Tove Bryn
Tove Bryn (a.k.a. Tove Trollstugo, November 27, 1903 – June 24, 1983) was a Norwegian actress. Bryn had her film debut in 1920 in Gustav Adolf Olsen's '' Kaksen paa Øverland'', in which she played the role of a huldra. In the 1930s and 1940s she appeared in three films directed by Rasmus Breistein: ''Ungen'' (1938, as Petrina), ''Hu Dagmar'' (1939, as Marte-Maja), and ''Gullfjellet'' (1941, as Olaug Benningstad). Ingjald Haaland
Ingjald Haaland (22 March 1885 – 28 July 1952) was a Norwegian actor and theatre director. Biography Haaland was born at Hålandsdal in Hordaland, Norway. He was the son of Sjur Haaland (1851–1912) and Brita Teigland (1855–1945). He was a student at Den Nationale Scene in Bergen from 1906. He made his stage debut at Dore Lavik's touring theatre in 1908. He was a member of the ensemble at Det Norske Teatret from its start in 1913, and served as theatre director from 1922 to 1933. He also performed at the Vestlandske Theater in Stavanger for a few years. When Det Norske Teatret was established in Oslo in 1913, he became employed there. He was theatre director from 1922 and stayed at Det Norske Teatret until 1940. He also appeared in several movies including works by filmmaker Olav Dalgard including ''Samhold må til'' from 1935. A hulder (or huldra) is a seductive forest creature found in Scandinavian folklore. Her name derives from a root meaning "covered" or "secret". In Norwegian folklore, she is known as huldra ("the rchetypalhulder", though folklore presupposes that there is an entire Hulder race and not just a single individual). She is known as the skogsrå "forest spirit" or Tallemaja "pine tree Mary" in Swedish folklore, and in Sámi folklore. Her name suggests that she is originally the same being as the völva divine figure Huld and the German Holda. The word hulder is only used of a female; a "male hulder" is called a ''huldrekall'' and also appears in Norwegian folklore. This being is closely related to other underground dwellers, usually called ''tusser'' (sg., ''tusse''). Rasmus Breistein (November 16, 1890 – October 16, 1976) was a Norwegian film director.Sundholm, John et al. ''Historical Dictionary of Scandinavian Cinema''. Lanham, MD: The Scarecrow Press, p. 88. Life Breistein was born in Åsane in the city of Bergen in Hordaland county, Norway. He was a farmer's son and learned to play fiddle in his youth, playing for dances at weddings in Western Norway. Later in life, in addition to directing films, he also performed on the Hardanger fiddle. When the Norwegian Theater opened in 1913, he started acting at the theater. He became engaged with the new medium of film after seeing Peter Lykke-Seest's productions, and he decided to produce films in a completely different way. ''Ungen'' (The Child or The Kid) is a Norway, Norwegian drama film from 1938 directed by Rasmus Breistein. The lead roles are played by Eva Sletto, Harald Heide Steen, and Ragnhild Hald. It is a film adaptation of Oskar Braaten's 1911 play ''Ungen: folkeliv i fire akter'' (The Child: Everyday Life in Four Acts). A new version of the film was made in 1974 as a musical. Breistein and Ansteinsson also wrote the film's script together. The film stars Randi Heide Steen, Arne Bang-Hansen, and Eva Sletto. Plot Sjur returns one summer day to his parents' home at Råvangen. He has just become a corporal in Oslo, and he brings with him his fiancée Dagmar, a beautiful and distinctively city girl. Gullfjellet
Gullfjellet or Gulfjellet is a tall mountain in Vestland county, Norway. It is situated on the border between the municipalities of Bergen and Samnanger, and it is the highest mountain in the municipality of Bergen. The name "Gul" is an old name for a strong wind, so the old name - Gulfjellet - means "the mountain with strong wind". Due to its importance as a hiking attraction, and much bad weather, large and numerous cairns have been put up ("Varderekka") to guide hikers from both sides of the mountain. Gullfjellet (film)
''Gullfjellet'' (Gold Mountain) is a Norwegian film from 1941 based on ''Guldfjeldet'', a comedy by Ove Ansteinsson about farmers tempted to invest all their money in a gold bonanza. The film was directed by Rasmus Breistein and Titus Vibe-Müller. Plot The city boy Rolf Rønne arrives at Benningstad, a large farm in Hedemark, and gets to work. He meets Jørgen Krullerstugun and lies that he has found gold at Kråkberget, which is on Hans Benningstad's property. Jørgen makes his own investigations at Kråkberget and finds mica and mistakes it for gold. At night, he brings home large quantities of the stone and fills his living room and bedrooms. As rumors spread, purchasing bids start pouring in. The landowner does not want to sell, but he gives up when the gold find is announced in the newspapers.
