Toulouse Railway Network
The Toulouse railway network is a railway network in Toulouse metropolitan area in France. Created in 1856, with the opening of the Matabiau station (now Toulouse main station), it has six lines, or eight branches, arranged more or less in a star shape. It is operated and managed by SNCF and serves 27 stations, including 12 inside the city of Toulouse. History * 1856 : First train station, Toulouse-Matabiau, is opened. * 1993 : Line C of railway network is opened with line A of Toulouse Metro. * 2003 : Line C is partially doubled and 3 stations are added. *2007 : Saint-Agne station in line D become a transfer station with new line B of metro. *2009 : ''Gallieni-Cancéropôle'' station is opened. Toulouse
Toulouse ( , ; oc, Tolosa ) is the prefecture of the French department of Haute-Garonne and of the larger region of Occitania. Albi
Albi (; oc, Albi ) is a commune in southern France. It is the prefecture of the Tarn department, on the river Tarn, 85 km northeast of Toulouse. Its inhabitants are called ''Albigensians'' (french: Albigeois, Albigeoise(s), oc, albigés -esa(s)). It is the seat of the Archbishop of Albi. The episcopal city, around the Cathedral Sainte-Cécile, was added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 2010 for its unique architecture. Le Capitole (train)
''Le Capitole'' (alternatively written ''Capitole'') was an express train between Paris and Toulouse in France. Introduced in 1960, it was operated by the ''Société Nationale des Chemins de fer français'' ("French National Railway Corporation") (SNCF). It was also the SNCF’s first foray into high-speed commercial service above . The train was named after the Capitole de Toulouse, a mainly 18th century building in Toulouse that houses the Hôtel de Ville, the Théâtre du Capitole (opera house), and the Donjon du Capitole (16th century). The gare des Aubrais (before 2014: ''gare des Aubrais-Orléans'') is a main-line railway station located in the town of Fleury-les-Aubrais in Loiret, central France, and serving the greater Orléans district. It is situated on the Paris to Bordeaux railway and is also the northern terminus of the Orléans to Montauban line. TGV and most other long-distance trains serve only the Gare des Aubrais, and not the more central Gare d'Orléans. Gare D'Austerlitz
The Gare d'Austerlitz (English: Austerlitz Station), officially Paris-Austerlitz, is one of the six large Paris rail termini. The station is located on the left bank of the Seine in the southeastern part of the city, in the 13th arrondissement. Orléans–Montauban Railway
The railway from Orléans to Montauban is an important French 544-kilometre long railway line, that connects Orléans and northern France to Montauban and southern France via Limoges. The railway was opened in several stages between 1847 and 1893, when the section from Limoges to Brive-la-Gaillarde was finished. Montauban or Montauban-Ville-Bourbon is a railway station serving the town of Montauban, Tarn-et-Garonne department, southwestern France. LGV Bordeaux–Toulouse
The LGV Bordeaux–Toulouse is a 222 kilometre (138 mi) long future French high-speed rail line reserved for passenger traffic between Bordeaux and Toulouse. Its dual aim is: * to ensure high-speed service of the Toulouse region through an extension of the LGV Sud Europe Atlantique and reduce the journey time between Paris and Toulouse to slightly over 3 hours. * in a more distant and less defined future, to be part of a proposed "Southern Link", connecting the Atlantic and Mediterranean from Bordeaux to Nice via Toulouse, Montpellier and Marseille.
