Toronto Bicycling Network
The Toronto Bicycling Network (TBN) is Toronto's largest recreational cycling organization. It was formed in 1983 by cycling enthusiasts Richard Aaron and Norm Myshok. By 2008, the TBN had grown to over 900 members. See also *Cycling in Toronto

A club is an association of people united by a common interest or goal. A service club, for example, exists for voluntary or charitable activities. There are clubs devoted to hobbies and sports, social activities clubs, political and religious clubs, and so forth. The number of cyclists in Toronto has been increasing progressively, particularly in the city's downtown core. As cycling conditions improve, a cycling culture has grown and alternatives such as automobiles are seen as less attractive. The politics of providing resources for cyclists, particularly dedicated bike lanes, has been contentious, particularly since the 2010s. History Toronto was no exception when the penny-farthing, and later the safety bicycle, arrived in North American cities in the late 19th century. This predated the advent of the automobile. The roads at the time were not ideal for bicycle travel. With the advent of the automobile the romance of the bicycle faded. Toronto Donut Ride
The Donut Ride is an informal Toronto road cycling tour run every Saturday and Sunday, as well as public holidays. Typical summer numbers range from 100 to 125 riders forming a large pack, and weather permitting, the ride continues year-round and often sees a dozen riders even in mid-winter. The ride is known for being fairly fast paced, often reaching speeds of about on straightaways. It is also known for being fairly unforgiving; riders who are dropped from the pack are on their own. History The tour was first organized in 1976 as the team ride of the Scarborough Cycling Club, affiliated with a bike store in Scarborough, two of the primary organizers being Roger Keiley and Barry Hastings.
