Tondo Medical Center
The Tondo Medical Center, also known as Tondo Med, is a 300-bed capacity tertiary public medical center established in 1971, under the supervision and control of the Department of Health (DOH). It is located on North Bay Boulevard, Tondo, Manila, Philippines. Tondo Med has eight hospital departments, all of which are currently accredited with their respective specialty societies except for EENT and Radiology which are still in the process of accreditation with the DOH. Tondo is a district located in Manila, Philippines. It is the largest in terms of area and population of Manila's sixteen districts, with a Census-estimated 631,313 people in 2015 and consists of two congressional districts. It is also the second most densely populated district in the city. Etymology The name Tondo can be derived from its Old Tagalog name, Tundun as inscribed in the Laguna Copperplate Inscription of 900 AD, the earliest native document found within the Philippines. Dutch anthropologist Antoon Postma, the first to translate the copperplate, believes the term ''tundun'' originated from the old Indian language Sanskrit, which was used alongside Old Malay as a language of politics and religion in the area at the time. North Bay Boulevard
North Bay Boulevard is a two- to four-lane access road in the Navotas Fish Port Complex of northern Metro Manila, Philippines. It is one of the main roads in Navotas which travels north-south through the southern parts of the city running parallel to Radial Road 10 (R-10) to the west. The road links the Balut area of Tondo in Manila and San Rafael Village in the south to the central Navotas barangay of Bagumbayan South in the north.
