Tomás Pérez (runner)
Tomás Orlando Pérez Garcia (born December 29, 1973) is a Venezuelan former professional baseball infielder and current batting practice pitcher for the Atlanta Braves of Major League Baseball (MLB). Pérez was a utility infielder who throws right-handed and switch hits. As of 2019, he is an infield instructor for the Atlanta Braves. Before landing in Philadelphia in 2000, Pérez had played for the Toronto Blue Jays from 1995 to 1998, where he was selected under the provisions of the Rule 5 draft. He has also played for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and the Houston Astros at the MLB level. Pérez is considered to be versatile because of his ability to play all four infield positions. Infielder
An infielder is a baseball player stationed at one of four defensive "infield" positions on the baseball field. Standard arrangement of positions In a game of baseball, two teams of nine players take turns playing offensive and defensive roles. Although there are many rules to baseball, in general the team playing offense tries to score runs by batting balls into the field that enable runners to make a complete circuit of the four bases. Sam Fuld
Samuel Babson Fuld (born November 20, 1981) is an American former professional baseball outfielder and the current general manager of the Philadelphia Phillies. He played eight seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Chicago Cubs, Tampa Bay Rays, Oakland Athletics, and Minnesota Twins. He began his baseball career by twice batting .600 in high school, during which time ''Baseball America'' ranked him 19th in the country. Fuld played college baseball at Stanford University. There, he was a two-time All-American, set the school record for career runs scored, and established the College World Series record for career hits. Pink Bat
In baseball, pink bats are limited-supply baseball bats manufactured by Louisville Slugger for use by select Major League Baseball players on Mother's Day, first introduced in 2006 in association with the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization. Each year on Mother's Day, Major League Baseball authorizes the use of the specially dyed bats — temporarily suspending the regulation that restricts players to using black, brown, red, or white bats — as part of a weeklong program to benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization. In addition to wielding the unique Sluggers, players and field-staff wear pink ribbons, pink wristbands, pink necklaces, pink bracelets, pink gloves, and pink cleats. Bases and homeplates are tagged with the breast cancer awareness logo, and line-ups are written on a pink card lineup card. Mother's Day is an annual holiday celebrated in the United States on the second Sunday in May. Mother's Day recognizes mothers, motherhood and maternal bonds in general, as well as the positive contributions that they make to their families and society. A right fielder, abbreviated RF, is the outfielder in baseball or softball who plays defense in right field. Right field is the area of the outfield to the right of a person standing at home plate and facing towards the pitcher's mound. Shortstop
Shortstop, abbreviated SS, is the baseball or softball fielding position between second and third base, which is considered to be among the most demanding defensive positions. Historically the position was assigned to defensive specialists who were typically poor at batting and were often placed at the bottom of the batting order. First Baseman
A first baseman, abbreviated 1B, is the player on a baseball or softball team who fields the area nearest first base, the first of four bases a baserunner must touch in succession to score a run.
