Tom Maynard
Thomas Lloyd Maynard (25 March 1989 – 18 June 2012) was a Welsh professional cricketer who played for Glamorgan and Surrey, and was selected for the England Lions tour to Bangladesh. On the night of his death, he was stopped by police in Wimbledon for erratic driving, and fled across rail tracks at Wimbledon Park tube station, where he was electrocuted and then hit by a train. The son of former England batsman Matthew Maynard, he was regarded as a highly promising young player. Life and career Born in Cardiff, Maynard attended Pentyrch Primary School, Radyr Comprehensive School, and then moved to Millfield School before attending Whitchurch High School for sixth form. Maynard made his way up the ranks with Glamorgan, starting in the county's Under-17s side at the age of 15. Cardiff (; cy, Caerdydd ) is the capital and largest city of Wales. County Championship
The County Championship (referred to as the LV= Insurance County Championship for sponsorship reasons) is the domestic first-class cricket competition in England and Wales and is organised by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). It became an official title in 1890. The competition consists of eighteen clubs named after, and representing historic counties, seventeen from England and one from Wales. First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but it was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs. Heath Hilton Streak (born 16 March 1974) is a former Zimbabwean cricketer and cricket coach who played for and captained the Zimbabwe national cricket team. By his statistical record, he is the best bowler to have played for Zimbabwe. He is the all time leading wicket taker for Zimbabwe in Test cricket with 216 wickets and in ODI cricket with 239 wickets. Tim Ambrose
Timothy Raymond Ambrose (born 1 December 1982) is a retired Australian-born English cricketer who played all three formats of the game internationally. He was a right-handed batsman and wicket-keeper. He began his domestic career with Sussex County Cricket Club in 2000, although he went on to play for Warwickshire. He represented England but lost his place to Matt Prior in 2009. Ambrose retired from cricket at the end of the 2020 season. Warwickshire County Cricket Club
Warwickshire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Warwickshire. The T20 Blast, currently named the Vitality Blast for sponsorship reasons, is a professional Twenty20 cricket competition for English and Welsh first-class counties. The competition was established by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2003 as the first professional Twenty20 league in the world. Mark Hardinges
Mark Andrew Hardinges (born 5 February 1978) is an English cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-pace bowler. Having made his debut in 1999, Hardinges made important contributions for Gloucestershire and went to Western Australia in an effort to improve his cricket. He played in the 2001 Benson & Hedges Cup final taking one wicket. He was a regular player for his home county until 2008 when he joined Essex for whom he played Twenty20 cricket in 2009. Friends Provident Trophy
The Friends Provident Trophy was a one-day cricket competition in the United Kingdom. It was one of the four tournaments in which the eighteen first-class counties competed each season. They were joined by teams from Scotland and Ireland. Lancashire won the title a record seven times. The competition has previously been known as the C&G Trophy (2000–2006), the NatWest Trophy (1981–2000) and the Gillette Cup (1963–1980). Wales Minor Counties Cricket Club
Wales National County Cricket Club is one of twenty National county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents all of the historic counties of Wales except Glamorgan and is currently the only non-English member of the National Counties Cricket Championship. The team is currently a member of the National Counties Cricket Championship Western Division, having joined in 1988 after Somerset's second eleven left the competition, and plays in the NCCA Knockout Trophy.
