Colwyn Bay () is a town, Community (Wales), community and seaside resort in Conwy County Borough on the north coast of Wales overlooking the Irish Sea. It lies within the historic counties of Wales, historic county boundaries of Denbighshire (historic), Denbighshire. At the 2021 United Kingdom census, 2021 census, the community had a population of 10,576, and the built up area had a population of 29,275. According to the tourist board, it is renowned for it3 mile long sandy beachwhich has been enhanced with millions of tonnes of sand, so therefore 'man-made' and its permanently available irrespective of the tides. Clwyd West (Assembly Constituency)
Clwyd West () is a constituency of the Senedd. It elects one Member of the Senedd by the first past the post method of election. Also, however, it is one of nine constituencies in the North Wales electoral region, which elects four additional members, in addition to nine constituency members, to produce a degree of proportional representation for the region as a whole. Boundaries The constituency was created for the first election to the Assembly, in 1999, with the name and boundaries of the Clwyd West Westminster constituency. It is entirely within the preserved county of Clwyd. For the 2007 Assembly election part of Clwyd West was transferred to the Vale of Clwyd constituency, and Clwyd West now includes an area currently within the Clwyd South constituency. Bay of Colwyn Town Council is an elected community council serving the town of Colwyn Bay in North Wales, and neighbouring communities of Rhos-on-Sea and Old Colwyn. Background Bay of Colwyn Town Council was formed in 1996 following the dissolution of Colwyn Borough Council. The Council covers the communities of Colwyn Bay (Glyn and Rhiw electoral wards), Old Colwyn (Colwyn and Eirias wards) and Rhos-on-Sea (Dinarth and Rhos wards). Each ward elects four town councillors, making a total of 24 councillors. The Council elects a Chairman every year in May, the Chairman also holds the post of Town Mayor. Robert William Griffiths (May 28, 1896 – January 29, 1962) was a British farmer and businessman whose principal interests lay in dairy farm production in Wales. The Griffiths philosophy was to explore all markets, pinpoint the best and gear production to exploit it. He was appointed High Sheriff of Montgomeryshire in 1953. Rhyl (; , ) is a seaside town and community in Denbighshire in Wales. The town lies on the coast of North Wales, at the mouth of the River Clwyd. To the west is Kinmel Bay and Towyn, to the east Prestatyn, and to the south-east Rhuddlan and St Asaph. At the 2011 Census, Rhyl had a population of 25,149, with Rhyl–Kinmel Bay having 31,229. Llandudno (, ) is a seaside resort, town and community (Wales), community in Conwy County Borough, Wales, located on the Creuddyn peninsula, which protrudes into the Irish Sea. Chester And Holyhead Railway
The Chester and Holyhead Railway was an early railway company conceived to improve transmission of government dispatches between London and Ireland, as well as ordinary railway objectives. Its construction was hugely expensive, chiefly due to the cost of building the Britannia Bridge, Britannia Tubular Bridge over the Menai Strait. The company had relied on Government support in facilitating the ferry service, and this proved to be uncertain. The company opened its main line throughout in 1850. It relied on the co-operation of other railways to reach London, and in 1859 it was absorbed by the London and North Western Railway.
