Toirano Caves
The Toirano Caves (Italian: ''Grotte di Toirano'') are a karst cave system in the municipality of Toirano, in the province of Savona, Liguria, Italy. Overview The area is situated close to the town of Toirano and few kilometers to the Ligurian Ponente Riviera. The exit "Borghetto Santo Spirito" of A10 motorway is 5 km far from the caves. Giogo Di Toirano
The Giogo di Toirano (801 m) is a mountain pass in the Province of Savona (Italy). It connects Toirano with Bardineto. Toponimy In Italian the main meaning of ''giogo'' is ''yoke'', but it also means ''gap'', ''mountain pass''; Toirano is a village on the southern side of the pass. Geography The pass stands between Monte Sebanco (983.9 m, West) and Bric Pagliarina (1.213 m, a subpeak of Monte Carmo). Located on the main chain of the Alps it connects the basin of the Ligurian Sea (South of the pass) and the Po plain. Its northern side is mainly occupied by beech woods, while the southern side is drier and warmer. Near the saddle stands a picnic place and some information panels about the peculiarities of the surrounding environment. Varatella
The Varatella (or Varatello''Carta turistica ed escursionistica - Provincia di Savona'' - 1:50.000 map of Provincia di Savona) is a stream of Liguria (Italy). Geography The river is formed at elevation by the confluence of two streams, Rio della Valle and Rio di Carpe, in the comune of Toirano. The river then flows through the Valle Varatella and crosses the centre of Toirano, where it receives from right the waters of rio Barescione, its main tributary. Heading south-east the Varatella reaches Borghetto Santo Spirito and ends its course in the Ligurian Sea, after being crossed by Autostrada A10, Genoa–Ventimiglia railway and ''Aurelia'' national road. Ceriale ( lij, O Çejâ, locally ) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Savona in the Italian region of Liguria, located about southwest of Genoa and about southwest of Savona. Castelvecchio Di Rocca Barbena
Castelvecchio di Rocca Barbena ( lij, Castrevëgio) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Savona in the Italian region Liguria, located about southwest of Genoa and about southwest of Savona. Geography Castelvecchio di Rocca Barbena borders the following municipalities: Balestrino, Bardineto, Erli, Garessio, Toirano, and Zuccarello. The village gets its name from a nearby mountain called Rocca Barbena. History In the 12th and 13th centuries, Castelvecchio was part of the fiefdom of the Marquis of Clavesana. Gradually it lost importance as the centre of local feudal power shifted to the nearby fief of Zuccarello. Borghetto Santo Spirito is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Savona in the Italian region Liguria, located about southwest of Genoa and about southwest of Savona.
