Radu Tudoran
Radu Tudoran (; born Nicolae Bogza; March 8, 1910 – November 18, 1992) was a popular Romanian novelist. He was born Nicolae Bogza in Blejoi, Prahova County, the younger brother of Geo Bogza, and son of . After graduating from the military high school at Dealu Monastery in 1930, and the military academy from Sibiu in 1932, he served as an officer in the Romanian Land Forces until 1938. Afterwards he dedicated himself to writing novels, such as ' (1954), ' (1941), ''Dunărea revărsată'' (1961), ''Flăcări'' (1945), and ''Întoarcerea fiului risipitor'' (1947). He also translated books from French and Russian. He died of heart disease brought by arteriosclerosis at Fundeni Hospital, în Bucharest. Ernest Maftei (; 6 March 1920 – 19 October 2006) was a Romanian film actor. He appeared in more than seventy films from 1953 to 2006. Biography Born in Prăjești, Bacău County, he attended high school in Bacău, and, at age 17, he joined the youth branch of the Iron Guard. For his militant activities, he was detained in 1938 for 5 months at a correctional facility in Vaslui, and later at prisons in Galați, Jilava, and Văcărești. In 1944 he graduated the Academy of Music and Dramatic Art of Iași. During the early Communist regime he was arrested and spent more time in prison before being released after the intervention of some Jews he helped. Sulina
Sulina () is a town and free port in Tulcea County, Northern Dobruja, Romania, at the mouth of the Sulina branch of the Danube. It is the easternmost point of Romania. History During the mid-Byzantine period, Sulina was a small cove, and in the 14th century, a Genoese port inhabited by a handful of sailors, pirates and fishermen. In the 18th century, the Ottomans built a lighthouse there in order to facilitate communication between Constantinople (Istanbul) and the Danubian Principalities, the main breadbaskets for the Ottoman capital. Thanks to the signing of the Treaty of Adrianoupolis (Edirne) on September 2, 1829, that unfettered the Danube grain trade, Sulina, by then under Russian control, became an important port. Tamara Buciuceanu-Botez (10 August 1929 – 15 October 2019) was a Romanian stage, screen and television actress, as well a known TV personality. Mircea Mureșan (11 November 1928 – 24 April 2020) was a Romanian film director. He directed 22 films between 1961 and 2004. Mureșan won the prize for Best First Work at the 1966 Cannes Film Festival for the film '' Răscoala''. Born in Sibiu, he attended from 1939 to 1947 the Gheorghe Lazăr High School in his native city.
