Tircoed Forest Village
Tircoed forest village is a suburb between the villages of Penllergaer and Pontlliw, Swansea, Wales. It is part of the Pontlliw and Tircoed community. Built from the late 1980s onwards, Tircoed currently consists of 470 houses clustered around a village hall, pond and green, accessible from the A48 via a road. The village has its own local community radio station - Radio Tircoed. The population in 2011 was around 884 people. Penllergaer
Penllergaer ( cy, Penlle'r-gaer) is a village and community in the City and County of Swansea, Wales, to the east of Gorseinon, within the electoral ward of the same name. It is situated about 4.5 miles north west of Swansea city centre, near junction 47 of the M4 motorway. The population of the community and ward was 2,868 in 2011. Features Penllergaer Woods, on the edge of the Parc Penllergaer housing development, once formed part of John Dillwyn Llewelyn's Penllergare estate and surrounded his mansion house. Pontlliw
Pontlliw (Welsh spelling: ''Pont-lliw'') is a village in the community of Pontlliw and Tircoed, part of the City and County of Swansea in Wales. The village is located near Pontarddulais, off Junction 47 of the M4 motorway. The name of the village comes from the Welsh word for bridge (''pont'') and the name of the River Lliw which runs through the village. The Pontlliw and Tircoed community has an elected community council and has a population of 2,075. The village itself had a population of around 1,645 in 2011. Pontlliw has a primary school, as well as a number of small businesses such as a newsagent, Post Office, a public house - The Buck and two restaurants - Bella's and Rasoi. Pontlliw and Tircoed is a community and electoral ward in the north of the City and County of Swansea, Wales. It includes the villages of Pontlliw and Tircoed. According to the 2011 UK Census Pontlliw and Tircoed had a population of 2,529. A community ( cy, cymuned) is a division of land in Wales that forms the lowest tier of local government in Wales. Welsh communities are analogous to civil parishes in England. There are 878 communities in Wales. History Until 1974 Wales was divided into civil parishes. A48 Road
The A48 is a trunk road in Great Britain running from the A40 at Highnam, west of Gloucester, England, to the A40 at Carmarthen, Wales. Before the Severn Bridge opened on 8 September 1966, it was a major route between England and South Wales. For most of its route, it runs almost parallel to the M4 motorway. During times of high winds at the Severn Bridge, the A48 is used as part of the diversion route and is still marked as a Holiday Route. From Gloucester, the A48 runs through the villages of Minsterworth, Westbury-on-Severn, connects to a link road to Cinderford in the Forest of Dean then through Newnham, Blakeney and since 1995, bypassing Lydney on the west bank of the River Severn.
