Pontlliw
Pontlliw (Welsh spelling: ''Pont-lliw'') is a village in the community of Pontlliw and Tircoed, part of the City and County of Swansea in Wales. The village is located near Pontarddulais, off Junction 47 of the M4 motorway. The name of the village comes from the Welsh word for bridge (''pont'') and the name of the River Lliw which runs through the village. The Pontlliw and Tircoed community has an elected community council and has a population of 2,075. The village itself had a population of around 1,645 in 2011. Pontlliw has a primary school, as well as a number of small businesses such as a newsagent, Post Office, a public house - The Buck and two restaurants - Bella's and Rasoi. Pontlliw has one active chapel, Carmel Baptist, which runs activities throughout the week in both Welsh and English. Pontlliw and Tircoed is a community and electoral ward in the north of the City and County of Swansea, Wales. It includes the villages of Pontlliw and Tircoed. According to the 2011 UK Census Pontlliw and Tircoed had a population of 2,529. Welsh ( or ) is a Celtic language of the Brittonic subgroup that is native to the Welsh people. Llanedi () is a village and community in Carmarthenshire, Wales. Once the name of a parish, Llanedi is now a community taking in the hamlet of Llanedi and the villages of Hendy, Fforest (suburbs of Pontarddulais) and Tycroes. The community population taken at the 2011 census was 5,664. The community is located between Ammanford and Llanelli. Ammanford ( cy, Rhydaman) is a town and community in Carmarthenshire, Wales, with a population of 5,411 at the 2011 census. It is a former coal mining town. The built-up area had a population of 7,945 with the wider urban area even bigger. A community ( cy, cymuned) is a division of land in Wales that forms the lowest tier of local government in Wales. Welsh communities are analogous to civil parishes in England.
