Tim Lythe
Timothy Ignatius Lythe (born 19 April 1980 in Auckland) is a New Zealand national cricket team, New Zealand cricketer who played for the Auckland Aces in the State Championship. It has been announced that he is moving to the Central Districts Stags for the 2007–08 New Zealand cricket season, 2007–08 season where he will play for the Hawke's Bay cricket team, Hawke's Bay in the Hawke Cup. A right-handed batsman and off spinner, he was diagnosed with bone cancer in 1999 at the age of 19 and underwent an operation in which half his left thigh bone was replaced with a titanium rod while his knee was replaced with a complex prosthesis. In 9 first class matches for Auckland in 2005/06 and 2006/07 he scored 352 runs at an average of 27 with a best of 66 among his three fifties. He also took 8 first class wickets. Titanium
Titanium is a chemical element with the symbol Ti and atomic number 22. ''The New Zealand Herald'' is a daily newspaper published in Auckland, New Zealand, owned by New Zealand Media and Entertainment, and considered a newspaper of record for New Zealand. Bone Cancer
A bone tumor is an abnormal growth of tissue in bone, traditionally classified as noncancerous (benign) or cancerous (malignant). Cancerous bone tumors usually originate from a cancer in another part of the body such as from lung, breast, thyroid, kidney and prostate. There may be a lump, pain, or neurological signs from pressure. A bone tumor might present with a pathologic fracture. Other symptoms may include fatigue, fever, weight loss, anemia and nausea. Sometimes there are no symptoms and the tumour is found when investigating another problem. Hawke Cup
The Hawke Cup is a non-first-class cricket competition for New Zealand's district associations. Apart from 1910–11, 1912–13 and 2000–01 the competition has always been on a challenge basis. To win the Hawke Cup, the challengers must beat the holders, either outright or on the first innings in a drawn match, on the holders' home ground. Teams from New Zealand's four main centres, Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin, have not usually competed for the Hawke Cup, although they did participate in the latter half of the 1990s. They were excluded again from the 2000–01 season. From 2000 to 2010 the team from Hamilton, New Zealand's fourth-largest urban area, was the most successful. Hawke's Bay Cricket Team
The Hawke's Bay cricket team, representing the Hawke's Bay region of New Zealand, played first-class cricket between 1883–84 and 1920–21, and competed in the Plunket Shield in the 1914–15 and 1920–21 seasons. The side has continued to appear in minor cricket and now competes in the Hawke Cup competition. First-class history In their first match at first-class level, against Wellington at the Basin Reserve in February 1884, Hawke's Bay were dismissed for just 32 in their second innings thanks to Joseph Firth's remarkable return of 8 for 13 from 13 four-ball overs.
