Tikapur Airport
Tikapur Airport is a domestic airport located in Tikapur serving Kailali District, a district in Sudurpashchim Province in Nepal. History The airport began operations on 11 October 1984. It served as a hub in western Nepal, as road connections were lacking until the Nepalese Civil War, when operations came to a halt in 1997. The area was then occupied by Kamaiya people, who built shelter within the airports boundaries. In the late 2010s, the public urged for the airport to reopen, for which minister Prem Bahadur Ale vowed to reopen the airport in 2022. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN, ne, नेपाल नागरिक उड्डयन प्राधिकरण, translit=Nepāl Nāgarik Uḍḍayan Prādhikaraṇ) is an independent civil aviation regulator. It was established as a Nepali government body in 1998 and is headquartered in Kathmandu. Before its formation, the functions of the CAAN had been performed since 1957 by an agency within the Ministry of Work, Communications and Transport. On 31 December 1998, as a result of the Civil Aviation Act of 1996, the CAAN was established as an independent regulatory body. Tikapur ( ne, टिकापुर) is a Municipality in Kailali District in Sudurpashchim Province of Nepal that was established in January 1997. Tikapur Municipality was further expanded on 10 March 2017 through merger with the two former Village development committees Narayanpur and Dansinhapur. It lies on the bank of Karnali River. At the time of the 2011 Nepal census it had a population of 98,651 people living in 15,356 individual households. Sudurpashchim Province ( ne, सुदूरपश्चिम प्रदेश, ''Sudurpashchim Province'') (''Far-West Province'') is one of the seven provinces established by the new constitution of Nepal which was adopted on 20 September 2015. The Nepalese Civil War was a protracted armed conflict that took place in the former Kingdom of Nepal from 1996 to 2006. Kamaiya And Kamlari
Kamaiya and Kamlari (also called Kamalari) were two traditional systems of bonded labour practised in the western Terai of Nepal. Both were abolished after protests, in 2000 and 2006 respectively. Origins The system of bonded labour existed in Nepal since the 18th century; following the unification of Nepal, members of the ruling elite received land grants in the Terai and were entitled to collect revenue from those who cultivated the land. The Kamaiya system bonds males to labour, and the Kamlari system bonds females. Prem Bahadur Ale Magar (born 28 April 1970) is a Nepali politician belonging to CPN (Unified Socialist). He is also the former Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation. Before being Tourism Minister, Magar has previously served as the Minister for Forests and Environment of Nepal. Political life He started his career as a local cadre first being elected as a ward member in Doti. After losing by in the 2013 Constituent Assembly, he was elected, in the 2017 general election, as a member of the House of Representatives from Doti 1 constituency.
