Ticaco District
Ticaco District is one of eight districts of the Tarata province in Peru. During the Chilean occupation of the area it was a rural border residence. The Ticalaco River served as the border between Peru and Chile. During these years, Chile attempted to occupy the territory on several occasions, but failed due to the organized defense of the local residents. Districts Of Peru
The districts of Peru () are the third-level country subdivisions of Peru. They are subdivisions of the provinces of Peru, provinces, which in turn are subdivisions of the larger regions of Peru, regions or departments. There are 1,838 districts in total. Overview A 1982 law requires a minimum of residents in an area for a new district to be legally established: 3,500 if it is located in the rainforest, 4,000 in the Andes highlands and 10,000 in the Chala, coastal area. In the dry Andean area, many districts have less than 3,500 inhabitants due to low population density in the area. In some cases, their populations have decreased in comparison to the days when they were founded. Districts that are located at very high altitudes tend to be scarcely populated. Phuru Phuruni
Purupuruni is a group of lava domes in southern Peru and a correlative geological formation. They are among the many volcanoes that exist in Peru and whose activity has been associated with the subduction of the Nazca Plate beneath the South America Plate. Purupuruni is associated with a geothermal field and a caldera. Volcanic activity occurred during the Pleistocene 53,000 ± 8,000 years ago but also during the Holocene about 5,300 ± 1,100 years ago; today the volcano is considered to be a low hazard volcano but is being monitored nevertheless. Ticalaco River
Ticalaco River is a river on the Pacific slope, located in southern Peru, department of Tacna, it runs from east to west crossing the coastal desert of Peru until its mouth at the Sama River in Tacna Province. Historically, from 1885 to 1925, the Ticalaco river was temporarily set as the political boundary between Peru and Chile after the War of the Pacific, as Chile considered it part of the Sama River and therefore as a boundary set in the Treaty of Ancón. A border checkpoint of the same name was built on the river by Chile. Within the disputed area was the Tarata Department, which was ultimately returned to Peru. Tacna Province (Chile)
The Tacna Province was a territorial division of Chile that existed between 1884 and 1929. It was ceded by the Treaty of Ancón in 1883 and placed under military administration, and then created on the 31st of October 1884, incorporating the former Peruvian provinces of Tacna Province, Tacna and Arica of the also former Tacna Department, as well as a contested claim over Tarata, Peru#Occupation by Chile, Tarata, and was returned to Peru at midnight on the 28th of August 1929, under the terms agreed upon in the Treaty of Lima (1929), Treaty of Lima of the same year. The Instituto Nacional de Estadística e Informática (INEI) ("National Institute of Statistics and Informatics") is a semi-autonomous Peruvian government agency which coordinates, compiles, and evaluates statistical information for the country. Its current director is Renán Quispe Llanos. As stated on its website, the INEI eases decision-making with the help of quality statistical information and the use of information technology and thus helps develop the society. # The 2005 Peru Census was a detailed enumeration of the Peruvian population. It was conducted by the Instituto Nacional de Estadística e Informática from July 18 through August 20, 2005. Its full name in Spanish is ''X Censo de Población y V de Vivienda'' ("Tenth Population and Fifth Household Census"). The previous census performed in Peru was the 1993 Census. The following census was the 2007 Census.
