Thiruvangoor
Thiruvangoor (തിരുവങ്ങൂർ) is a small village away from Kozhikode, Kerala, India. It lies to the east of the Arabian Sea (Kappad) and west of Kuniyil Kadavu. Portuguese navigator Vasco de Gama is believed to have landed near Thiruvangoor, at Kappad, during one of his voyages, on 20 May 1498. Thiruvangoor sits on a national highway. Nearby major towns are Atholi and Koyilandy. The Kuniyil Kadavu Bridge allows for transportation between Thiruvangoor and Atholi town. Education Thiruvangoor Higher Secondary School is the village's largest educational facility. Thiruvangoor is part of the Chemancheri panchayat. Kappad Beach
Kappad, or Kappakadavu locally, is a beach and village near Koyilandy, in the district Kozhikode, Kerala, India. A stone monument installed by government commemorates the "landing" by Vasco da Gama with the inscription, Vasco da Gama landed here, Kappakadavu, in the year 1498'.'' In 2007 a Rs. 1.5 crore program to beautify the beach was launched by eralaTourism Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan. It is now completed and Kappad beach has a corniche and park. The park includes a restroom, restaurant and seating. The nearest major railway station is Koyilandy, about 10 km away from Kappad. The nearest airport is Calicut International Airport (CCJ), which is about 25 km from the town of Kozhikode. Private transport buses are available from the main bus stand, or visitors can reach the beach by stopping at Thiruvangoor on National Highway 66 between Kozhikode and Vadakara. Elathur, Kozhikode
Elathur is a part of Calicut corporation in Kozhikode district in the Indian state of Kerala. It is located about 12 km north of Kozhikode city on the National Highway 66. It is bounded by the Arabian Sea at the west and Korapuzha River (Elathur River) at the north. The Elathur River is generally considered to be the boundary between the North Malabar and South Malabar in the erstwhile district of Malabar. At the 2001 census, Elathur panchayat has a population of 41,326 with a nearly equal proportion of Hindus and Muslims. The panchayat covers an area of 13.58 km2, but a major portion of the area has been taken up by National Highway 66, the State highway, rivers and the Indian Railways. Mananthavady is a municipality and ''taluk'' in the Wayanad district of Kerala, India.
