The Theo Thijssen-prijsSometimes spelled ''Theo Thijssenprijs''. (Dutch for Theo Thijssen Prize) is a Dutch literary award awarded once every three years to a Dutch author of children's literature or young adult fiction. The award is not given for a particular work but for the entire oeuvre. The award is named after Dutch writer, teacher and socialist politician Theo Thijssen. The Theo Thijssen-prijs is a continuation of the literary award ''Staatsprijs voor kinder- en jeugdliteratuur'' (Dutch for ''State prize for children's and youth literature'') which was first awarded in 1964. The award ceremony is held in the Dutch Museum of Literature in The Hague. The award is awarded by the Stichting P.C. Hooft-prijs voor Letterkunde. Els Pelgrom
Els Pelgrom (born 2 April 1934, Arnhem), pseudonym of Else Koch, is a Dutch writer of children's literature. Biography Career For some time she worked on the children's section of the ''Winschoter Courant''. She also worked for a short period of time as teacher. Children's literature Pelgrom made her debut as writer in 1962 with the book ''Het geheimzinnige bos''. Her book ''De kinderen van het achtste woud'' (1977) is considered by many to be her true debut. For this book she received the Gouden Griffel award in 1978. The book was translated into English as ''The Winter When Time Was Frozen'' by Maryka and Raphael Rudnik who won the Mildred L. Batchelder Award in 1981 for this translation. Daan Remmerts De Vries
Daan Remmerts de Vries (born 5 April 1962) is a Dutch writer and illustrator. Career Remmerts de Vries made his debut in 1990 with ''Zippy en Slos'', a collection of short stories. He won the Gouden Griffel award twice: in 2003, for his book ''Godje'' and, in 2010, for his book ''Voordat jij er was''. He also won the Zilveren Griffel award in 2015 for ''Soms laat ik je even achter'' and in 2017 for ''T.rex Trix in Naturalis''. In 2021, he won the Theo Thijssen-prijs for his entire oeuvre. Remmerts de Vries has illustrated books written by several authors, including Ted van Lieshout, Sjoerd Kuyper and Francine Oomen. He has also illustrated many of his own books. Margaretha Anna (Bibi) Dumon Tak (born 21 December 1964) is a Dutch writer of children's literature. After completing her degree in Dutch Literature, in 2001 Bibi Dumon Tak began her career as a children's non-fiction author with ''Het koeienboek'' (The Cow Book, 2001). Career Dumon Tak made her debut in 2002 with the book ''Het koeienboek''. She won the Zilveren Griffel award for this book. Sjoerd Kuyper
Sjoerd Kuyper (born 6 March 1952, Amsterdam) is a Dutch poetry and prose writer of adult, children's and youth books, theatre, TV series, film scripts and lyrics. His best-known works are the film ''Het zakmes'' (''The Pocket-knife''), the series of books about the toddler Robin, the poem ''Mensen met koffers'' (''People with Suitcases''), the lyrics ''Hallo wereld'' (''Hello World'') and the youth novels ''Hotel De Grote L'' (''The Big L hotel'') and ''Bizar'' (''Bizarre''). Ted van Lieshout (born 21 December 1955) is a Dutch poet and writer of children's literature. He has won numerous awards for his work. Early life Van Lieshout was born in 1955 in Eindhoven, Netherlands. Van Lieshout studied ''Beeldende Kunsten en Vormgeving'' between 1975 and 1980 at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. Until 1990 he was part-time teacher at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. Peter van Gestel (3 August 1937, Amsterdam – 1 March 2019, Amsterdam) was a Dutch writer. Career Writing Van Gestel made his debut in 1962 with ''Drempelvrees'', a collection of stories. He received the Reina Prinsen Geerligsprijs for this book. In 1976, he published the book ''Ver van huis'' under the pseudonym Sander Joosten.
