The Voom Blooms
The Voom Blooms were an English indie rock band from Loughborough, England, consisting of George Guildford (guitar/vocals), Thom Mackie (drums), Craig Monk (guitar), and Andy Wells (bass). History The group formed in July 2005, with Brett Young on bass, and recorded their first single, "Politics & Cigarettes" in autumn of that year. The BBC's Steve Lamacq championed the song on both his Radio 1 and BBC 6 Music radio programs, and the band won 'Fresh Meat' on Zane Lowe's Radio 1 show. The band also made the top 10 of Channel 4's 'Best New British Bands Showcase', receiving more than 24,000 votes. The single was released in March 2006, on Fiction Records, and sold out in less than a week, adding to the excitement of the band's spot on ''NMEs club tour. The band was also announced in Rolling Stone magazine as one of the best new bands of 2006-2007. The band claim their name comes from a mis-heard line in a Japanese film. Summer Sundae
Summer Sundae (also called the Summer Sundae Weekender) was an annual music festival held in Leicester, England which initially focused on indie (music), indie, Indie folk, alternative, and local music. The festival began as a one-dayer in 2001 and grew year on year since then, adding first one and then two campsites, and later involved five stages running over three days. It was hosted by the city's De Montfort Hall, both in the hall itself, and over four outdoor stages in the hall's grounds, and including part of Victoria Park, Leicester, Victoria Park. A section of the park was fenced off for camping during the weekend of the festival. The festival was for a time sponsored in part by the digital radio station BBC 6 Music, which in return had exclusive broadcasting rights. The festival usually took place in August and grew from two stages to five over the course of six years. Milburn are an indie rock band from Sheffield, England, that consisted of Joe Carnall, Louis Carnall, Tom Rowley, and Joe Green. They announced their split on 28 March 2008, with the band playing one final gig at Carling Academy Sheffield, Sheffield's Carling Academy on 24 May 2008 before reuniting in 2016. History Formation Milburn's formation came after years of friendship through playing football together. Joe Green started playing the drums and Tom and Louis Carnall both learned to play guitar. The Paddingtons
The Paddingtons are an English indie rock band from Hull. Between April 2005 and 9 November 2006, they played over 150 live shows, including venues such as Trent Park Golf Club, The Square, Harlow; Jersey Live; Summercase; The Underground, Stoke-on-Trent; T in the Park and at the Reading and Leeds Festivals.
