Grasshopper Manufacture
is a Japanese video game developer founded on March 30, 1998 by Goichi Suda. They are well known for creating titles such as ''killer7'' and the '' No More Heroes'' series. History The company was founded on March 30, 1998 in Suginami, Japan. Its founder, Goichi Suda, gave two reasons why he chose the name "''Grasshopper:''" The first being a reference to the song of the same name by UK band Ride, which he was listening to on repeat when forming the company. The second reason is that originally he wanted to use a Japanese word ''"battamon"'' as the company name. ''"Batta"'' means ''"grasshopper"'' and ''"mon"'' is ''"a thing"'' and when you put the words together, it means ''"copy or fake."'' However, he later changed his mind and stuck to Grasshopper instead. The word ''"Manufacture"'' was added in because his game company was about "building things." Headed by Suda, GhM were responsible for several original titles, ones that are also fraught with financial risk, but ult ...

Video Game
Video games, also known as computer games, are electronic games that involves interaction with a user interface or input device such as a joystick, controller, keyboard, or motion sensing device to generate visual feedback. This feedback mostly commonly is shown on a video display device, such as a TV set, monitor, touchscreen, or virtual reality headset. Some computer games do not always depend on a graphics display, for example text adventure games and computer chess can be played through teletype printers. Video games are often augmented with audio feedback delivered through speakers or headphones, and sometimes with other types of feedback, including haptic technology. Video games are defined based on their platform, which include arcade video games, console games, and personal computer (PC) games. More recently, the industry has expanded onto mobile gaming through smartphones and tablet computers, virtual and augmented reality systems, and remote c ...

Twilight Syndrome
is a horror-themed adventure game series released exclusively in Japan. It was created by Human Entertainment and continued by Spike after Human folded in the late 1990s. The games generally follow high school girls investigating urban legends about ghosts and other paranormal happenings in their school and neighborhood. The first two games were directed by Goichi Suda and released for the PlayStation in 1996. Suda entered the position partway through development and thus did not have much creative input. He was more deeply involved with the next game in the series, ''Moonlight Syndrome'', but left Human shortly after to found his own company, Grasshopper Manufacture. The series was retained by Spike, which released a spiritual sequel in the form of ''Yuuyami Doori Tankentai'', before releasing two more ''Twilight Syndrome'' games, one for the PlayStation in 2000 and a Nintendo DS game in 2008. Moonlight Syndrome
is a horror-themed adventure game developed and published by Human Entertainment for the PlayStation in October 1997. An entry in the company's ''Twilight Syndrome'' series, the game was directed and co-written by Goichi Suda. Retaining the combination of adventure and visual novel elements from earlier games in the series, ''Moonlight Syndrome'' follows series protagonist Mika Kishii as she investigates supernatural phenomena. Development of ''Moonlight Syndrome'' began following the completion of Suda's work on the first ''Twilight Syndrome'' games. Due to having little input on the original games' stories and disliking the ghost story elements, Suda focused the plot of ''Moonlight Syndrome'' around psychological horror and human capacity for evil. Critics liked the game's story but criticized the characters and long, inconsequential dialogue trees. Suda left Human Entertainment to form Grasshopper Manufacture following the release of ''Moonlight Syndrome'', but the game remai ...

Player Character
A player character (also known as a playable character or PC) is a fictional character in a video game or tabletop role-playing game whose actions are controlled by a player rather than the rules of the game. The characters that are not controlled by a player are called non-player characters (NPCs). The actions of non-player characters are typically handled by the game itself in video games, or according to rules followed by a gamemaster refereeing tabletop role-playing games. The player character functions as a fictional, alternate body for the player controlling the character. Video games typically have one player character for each person playing the game. Some games, such as multiplayer online battle arena, hero shooter, and fighting games, offer a group of player characters for the player to choose from, allowing the player to control one of them at a time. Where more than one player character is available, the characters may have distinctive abilities and differing styles ...
