The Park School, Yeovil
The Park School (Yeovil) was an independent, co-educational day school, near Yeovil, Somerset, England. It had 250 students from Reception to sixth form and was the only independent school in Yeovil. Based in Yeovil since its foundation in 1851, the school moved to Chilton Cantelo in 2017–2018 where it maintained Junior, Senior and Sixth Form departments. The school closed in May 2020. History The school was founded in 1851 by Mrs Bennet, who was headmistress from 1851 to 1919. It was originally an all-girls school, before becoming a co-educational school in 1991. In 2017 the school acquired the buildings and grounds of the former Chilton Cantelo School and relocated the junior school and boarders in September 2017, followed by the senior school and sixth form in September 2018. Yeovil
Yeovil ( ) is a town and civil parishes in England, civil parish in the district of South Somerset, England. The population of Yeovil at the last census (2011) was 45,784. More recent estimates show a population of 48,564. It is close to Somerset's southern border with Dorset, from London, south of Bristol, from Sherborne and from Taunton. Reception (school)
Reception (also known as ''Nursery'', ''Year R'', ''Year 0'' or ''FS2'' for ''foundation second year'') is the first year of primary school in England and Wales. It comes after nursery and before Year One in England and Wales, or before Primary 2 in Northern Ireland. Pupils in Reception are usually aged between four and five. Chilton Cantelo
Chilton Cantelo is a village and parish in Somerset, England, situated on the River Yeo north of Yeovil and east of Ilchester in the South Somerset district. The village has a population of 445. The parish also includes the village of Ashington. History The first part of the name Chilton means the young nobleman's settlement, and the second is from William de Cantilupe (or Cantelo) and his descendants who held the manor between 1201 and 1350. The manor was acquired in the 18th century by the Goodford family who built Chilton Cantelo house which later became the home of Chilton Cantelo School, a small private boarding school which was owned and operated by the Cognita Group. In 2017 the school was purchased by The Park School, Yeovil which relocated to the Chilton site. This school closed in 2020. Chilton Cantelo School
Chilton Cantelo School was a small profit-making mixed private school located in the village of Chilton Cantelo (near Yeovil and Sherborne) in Somerset, England. The school was briefly owned and operated by the Cognita Group. Set on of grounds, an 18th-century manor house housed the school. It accepted pupils between the ages of 4 and 18. The school had boarding places for up to 220 of its pupils, with day pupils offered 'flexi-boarding' when needed. Class sizes were typically small. Chilton Cantelo School was a member of the Independent Schools Association, the Independent Schools Council and the Boarding Schools Association.
