The Old Negro Space Program
''The Old Negro Space Program'' is a short mockumentary in the style of a Ken Burns film. Imagining a black space program, whose "blackstronauts" were excluded from "White NASA", the film lampoons Burns's history of the Negro leagues, a subject of his 1994 series, ''Baseball''. The ten-minute film was produced and directed by Andy Bobrow, who wrote for the television series '' Hype'', '' Malcolm in the Middle'' and later, ''Community''. Bobrow later went on to write the ''Community'' episode "Pillows and Blankets", another parody of Ken Burns. It was created for broad release on the Internet. It was nominated for a 2005 Nebula Award but was ruled ineligible because the film "did not meet the requirement of professional release, or the 12 month period for nomination (after professional release) expired prior to the film receiving enough nominations to be placed on the ballot." Andy Bobrow
Andy Bobrow is an American television writer and producer known for his work on ''Community''. He was previously a writer for '' Malcolm in the Middle'', head writer for '' The Last Man on Earth'', '' Brooklyn Nine-Nine'', ''Bless the Harts'' and created a mockumentary called '' The Old Negro Space Program''. He currently voices Owly on the ''Love Me Cat Show''. Early life and career Bobrow attended Berkley High School in Berkley, Michigan, and Michigan State University. He plays the tuba and majored in music. He was a copywriter at several advertising agencies in Detroit and Los Angeles, including Campbell-Ewald and Ketchum. Bobrow also performed in the Groundlings Theater Sunday Company. Sullivan Ballou
Sullivan Ballou (March 28, 1829July 29, 1861) was an American lawyer and politician from Rhode Island, and an officer in the Union Army during the American Civil War. He is remembered for an eloquent letter he wrote to his wife Sarah a week before he was mortally wounded in the First Battle of Bull Run. He was left behind by retreating Union forces and died a week after the battle. Early life Ballou was born the son of Hiram (1802–1833) and Emeline (Bowen) Ballou, a distinguished Huguenot family in Smithfield, Rhode Island. He lost his father at a young age. In spite of this, he attended boarding school at Nichols Academy in Dudley, Massachusetts, and Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts. Shelby Foote
Shelby Dade Foote Jr. (November 17, 1916 – June 27, 2005) was an American writer, historian and journalist. Although he primarily viewed himself as a novelist, he is now best known for his authorship of '' The Civil War: A Narrative'', a three-volume history of the American Civil War. With geographic and cultural roots in the Mississippi Delta, Foote's life and writing paralleled the radical shift from the agrarian planter system of the Old South to the Civil Rights era of the New South. Foote was little known to the general public until his appearance in Ken Burns's PBS documentary '' The Civil War'' in 1990, where he introduced a generation of Americans to a war that he believed was "central to all our lives." Jordan Black (born Gary Andre McCrory; November 9, 1970) is an American comedy writer and actor. Life and career Black was born in Kankakee, Illinois. He has written for ''Saturday Night Live'' and starred in the Comedy Central show '' Halfway Home'' as Sebastian "C-Bass" Yates, an ex-convict for internet fraud. Buzz Aldrin (; born Edwin Eugene Aldrin Jr.; January 20, 1930) is an American former astronaut, engineer and fighter pilot. He made three spacewalks as pilot of the 1966 Gemini 12 mission.
