The Link Alive
''The Link Alive'' is the first live album by French heavy metal band Gojira. The show was filmed in Bordeaux in 2003. The material is mostly older songs from '' The Link'' and ''Terra Incognita'', as well as earlier demos. The extra features include several behind-the-scenes documentary, music videos, history, a photo gallery and some short clips, the DVD also contains some hidden 'Easter Eggs'. ''The Link Alive'' was also released as a live album CD on 30 October 2004. It features identical track listings and credits to the DVD. The album was limited to only 500 copies. On 25 September 2012, Listenable Records offering the re-release of the DVD in North America. DVD Audio
DVD-Audio (commonly abbreviated as DVD-A) is a digital format for delivering high-fidelity audio content on a DVD. Terra Incognita (Gojira Album)
''Terra Incognita'' is the debut album released by French metal band Gojira. It was recorded and mixed by Stephan Kraemer. According to a text on the album inlay, the title (Latin for " unknown land") refers to the area inside of each man, where, according to Hindu legend, Brahma hid the divinity that he had taken from humanity for the punishment of its abuse. In 2009, the album was re-released in a limited edition digipack including three bonus tracks. The 2009 issues of the album were for a limited time only and was eventually reissued once again 7 years later on 10 October 2016. Prior to these two reissues and the following years after the 2009 reissue, copies of the album were getting hard to find and were often selling at higher prices on auction sites and sought after by fans following long periods of time being out of print. Mario Duplantier
Mario François Duplantier (born 19 June 1981) is a French-American musician and artist best known as the drummer for progressive death metal band Gojira. He established himself as a powerful, technically precise drummer, using polyrhythmic patterns and distinctive jazzy fills and drum breaks. He has been practicing painting and drawing since 2009. Duplantier developed an early interest in music and started drumming at the age of eleven. In 1996, he co-founded the death metal band Godzilla with his older brother Joe. After a period of self-learning, he entered Agostini drum school and co-founded Empalot in 1998. Godzilla changed its name to Gojira in 2001 and released its debut album, ''Terra Incognita''. His side project Empalot was placed on hiatus in 2004 during the rise of Gojira. Jean-Michel Labadie (born 14 July 1974 in Cambo-les-Bains, Basque Country) is a French musician best known as the bassist of metal band Gojira. Career Labadie grew up in the Basque Country, and played bass in regional underground bands. Since 1998, Labadie has been the bassist of the metal band Gojira, which was formed in Ondres ( Landes), near Bayonne (Basque Country). The whole band grew up in the south-west of France. Christian Roger Andreu (born November 15, 1976) is a French musician best known as the lead guitarist of metal band Gojira, and was guitarist on a Familha Artús album. Music Christian Andreu's influences include bands such as Death, Metallica, Morbid Angel, Tool, Slayer, and classical music. His favorite non-metal musicians are Mozart, La Tordue, Têtes Raides, and Björk, as well as Bulgarian music and Indian music. He cites French singers such as Alain Bashung, Barbara, Jacques Brel, and Georges Brassens. Joseph Andrew Duplantier (born 19 October 1976) is a French-American musician, best known as the rhythm guitarist, vocalist, and lyricist of heavy metal band Gojira. He is also a record producer and environmental activist. Duplantier was born in Paris and grew up in Ondres. He was raised in an environment where music and arts held a prominent place. He learned to play the guitar at the age of fourteen and formed his first band in high school. He studied art and began working as a graphic designer before co-founding the death metal band Godzilla with his younger brother Mario in 1996.
