Gojira (band)
Gojira is a French Heavy metal music, heavy metal band from Ondres. Founded as Godzilla in 1996, the band's lineup - brothers Joe Duplantier, Joe (vocals, rhythm guitar) and Mario Duplantier (drums), Christian Andreu (lead guitar), and Jean-Michel Labadie (bass) - has been the same since the band changed its name to Gojira in 2001. Gojira has been known for its Progressive metal, progressive and technical death metal styles and Spirituality, spiritual, Philosophy, philosophical, and Environmentalism in music, environmentally themed lyrics. The band has gone "from the utmost obscurity during the first half of their career to widespread global recognition in the second". Hellfest
Hellfest (), also known as Hellfest Summer Open Air, is a rock festival focusing on heavy metal music, held annually in June in Clisson, France. Its high attendance makes it the French music festival with the largest turnover. It is also one of the biggest metal festivals in Europe and the biggest to exist in France. It originated in another music festival, the Fury Fest, held from 2002 to 2005, in different areas of Pays de la Loire. Hellfest took over in 2006 and over the years has seen a continuous rise in visitors, from 22,000 in the first edition, to 55,000 tickets sold per day in 2017. The album was released on 13 October 2008 in Europe via Listenable Records and on 14 October in the US through Prosthetic Records. It sold around 4,200 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at number 138 on the ''Billboard'' 200 chart. It also reached no. 1 on the Top Heatseekers chart and no. 21 on the Top Independent Albums chart. The album was recorded at the band's home studio while Joe Duplantier produced it. ''Terra Incognita'' is the debut studio album by French Heavy metal music, heavy metal band Gojira (band), Gojira. It was recorded and mixed by Stephan Kraemer. According to a text on the album inlay, the title (Latin for "terra incognita, unknown land") refers to the area inside of each man, where, according to Hindu legend, Brahma hid the divinity that he had taken from humanity for the punishment of its abuse. In 2009, ''Terra Incognita'' was re-released in a limited edition digipack including three bonus tracks that were recorded live in Antwerp, Belgium, in 2006. The 2009 issues of the album were for a limited time only and was eventually reissued once again 7 years later on 10 October 2016.
