The Great Commandment (song)
"The Great Commandment" is a song by German synthpop band Camouflage. Originally recorded in 1983, the song was re-recorded in 1987 and released as their debut single in 1987. It was included in their 1988 debut album, '' Voices & Images''. The single gave Camouflage their only number one dance hit. "The Great Commandment" stayed at the top spot for three non-consecutive weeks. The single became popular on independent stations and crossed over to the mainstream American pop charts, peaking at number 59 in February 1989. In their native Germany, "The Great Commandment" went to number 14, and reached the top ten in more than twenty countries. Music video The music video depicts the band members amongst a crowd of children, who appear to be protesting against a spokesperson of some kind. Camouflage (band)
Camouflage is a German synth-pop trio consisting of lead singer Marcus Meyn (b. May 2, 1966), Heiko Maile and Oliver Kreyssig. Their only Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100 hit was "The Great Commandment (song), The Great Commandment", which reached No. 59 in early 1989, and spent three weeks at No. 1 on the Dance Club Songs chart. They also had two minor dance hits in 1989. History In 1983, Heiko Maile, Marcus Meyn, Oliver Kreyssig, and Martin Kähling, four friends from Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany, formed the band Licensed Technology. It was short lived, as Martin Kähling left in 1984. Soon after, the remaining three members renamed themselves "Camouflage", inspired by a Yellow Magic Orchestra song of the same name. Me And You (Camouflage Song)
"Me and You" is German synthpop group Camouflage's sixteenth single, taken from their sixth studio album Sensor and released in April 2003. The single was backed with a radio edit, two remixes and also a remix of album track "Perfect". A remix single was also released in Europe, which featured additional remixes from Humate Humate was until 1996 a German trance group, then just the German record producer Gerret Frerichs, who has released singles with record labels such as MFS and Superstition. His work has been featured on many compilation albums including the ''Glo ..., Smallboy and Warp Acht. The Warp Acht remix was later added to "Sensor" as a bonus track. Music video The music video features Marcus' reflection on the walls of a train station, while various people observe and carry around portraits of the band members, which also feature on the single cover. A metronome, from ancient Greek μέτρον (''métron'', "measure") and νομός (nomós, "custom", "melody") is a device that produces an audible click or other sound at a regular interval that can be set by the user, typically in beats per minute (BPM). Metronomes may include synchronized visual motion. Musicians use the device to practise playing to a regular pulse. Camouflage is the use of any combination of materials, coloration, or illumination for concealment, either by making animals or objects hard to see, or by disguising them as something else. Examples include the leopard's spotted coat, the battledress of a modern soldier, and the leaf-mimic katydid's wings. Depeche Mode are an English electronic music band formed in Basildon, Essex, in 1980. The band currently consists of Dave Gahan (lead vocals and co-songwriting) and Martin Gore (keyboards, guitar, co-lead vocals and main songwriting). "Thief" is a single by German synthpop group Camouflage. The single was released on July 12, 1999 via Virgin Records label. The single was later re-recorded and included on their sixth studio album ''Sensor'' in 2003. Overview The record was the first single to feature band member Oliver Kreyssig since he departed the band in 1990. It was also the band's first single in three years. According to an interview with the band in 2008, they originally recorded the song in a very modern style. This version was rejected by their label, who pushed them to instead produce it so it sounded more like their early work. The "Opal Mix" on the single appears to be the originally recorded version. Four singles were released from the album: "The Great Commandment", "Strangers' Thoughts", "Neighbours", "That Smiling Face". On 12 October 2018 is announced the release of limited edition of the album via German Tapete Records to mark the 30th anniversary of "Voices & Images", the album now earns a repackaged, limited edition reissue featuring deleted remixes, rare versions and B-sides.
