The Girl Effect
Girl Effect is an independent non-profit organization, launched in September 2015 with the goal of ending poverty globally. History Girl Effect was created in 2004 by the Nike Foundation, in collaboration with the NoVo Foundation and United Nations Foundation. It launched at the World Economic Forum in Davos. Farah Ramzan Golant was appointed as the CEO. Maria Eitel, President and CEO of the Nike Foundation, was appointed chairman of the organization. In 2019, Jessica Posner Odede replaced Golant as CEO. It has since become an independent organisation. The World Economic Forum (WEF) is an international non-governmental and lobbying organisation based in Cologny, canton of Geneva, Switzerland. Maria Eitel is the founder and Chair of the Nike Foundation, which supports the work of The Girl Effect, of which she is the founder and Chair. Before founding the Nike Foundation, Eitel was the first Vice President for Corporate Responsibility at Nike Inc. The Life Ball in Vienna is the biggest Charitable organization, charity event in Europe supporting people with HIV or AIDS. The event is organized by the nonprofit organization AIDS LIFE, which was founded in 1992 by Gery Keszler and Torgom Petrosian.
