''The Face at the Window'' is a melodramatic detective play written by F. Brooke Warren and first produced in 1897.Pitts, Michael R. Charles Villiers (actor)
Charles Villiers was an Australian actor and occasional director who appeared in many silent films. According to a contemporary report, "there is probably no actor in Australia that has done more consistent picture work than Mr. Villiers, both as heavy lead, and director." He was particularly well known for playing villains. Biography In 1912 Villiers managed Lytton's Picture Stadium in Orange. Villiers started working in films for the Australian Photoplay Company for whom he was one of their main actors. He then made a series of films for the Fraser Film Release and Photographic Company. In 1914 he toured for 12 months with the Oliver Dramatic Company. Beaumont Smith later estimated Villiers appeared in more than 60 silent films. His wife was also an actor. Wilfred Noy (born Wilfred Noy Blumberg, 24 December 1883 – 29 March 1948) was an English film director, actor, screenwriter and producer of the silent era. Noy was the maternal uncle of Leslie Howard.Eforgan, Estel. Leslie Howard: The Lost Actor. London: Vallentine Mitchell, 2010. . He directed more than 80 films between 1910 and 1936. He also appeared in 18 films between 1924 and 1939. In 1925 he went to the United States to make ''The Lost Chord'', a remake of one of his earlier British hits.
