The Envy Corps
The Envy Corps is an American alternative rock band originally from Ames, Iowa. Members include Brandon Darner (guitar), Micah Natera (keyboards, guitar), Luke Pettipoole (vocals, bass, piano), and Scott Yoshimura (drums). Discovered on Myspace by Universal Music imprint Vertigo, the band was transplanted into the UK indie dance/rock scene of the late 2000s. Future independent releases found the band experimenting with sounds inspired by Radiohead, Talk Talk, Portishead, and Bjork in relative obscurity outside their home state of Iowa. In a review of their critically acclaimed 2011 release '' It Culls You'', Christina Smart of Examiner.com called the Envy Corps "the best band you've never heard of." Ames () is a city in Story County, Iowa, United States, located approximately north of Des Moines in central Iowa. It is best known as the home of Iowa State University (ISU), with leading agriculture, design, engineering, and veterinary medicine colleges. Hinterland Music Festival
Hinterland Music Festival is a multi-day music festival held at the Avenue of the Saints Amphitheater in St. Charles, Iowa, which was first held in 2015. The festival occurs annually in August and is the largest music festival in Iowa. In addition to live music, Hinterland features art, craft vendors, and camping. Background The festival is organized by Sam Summers, co-owner of a local music venue and booker for a concert series. Water Works Park, located along the Raccoon River four miles southwest of Downtown Des Moines, was set to host for the first year. Its inaugural edition, however, was moved to St. Charles, twenty miles to the south, due to flooding concerns at the park. It drew a crowd of 14,000 over the two days. 2016 - 2021 For 2016, the festival announced plans to return to St. Charles. The festival expanded to three days in 2019. Editors are an English rock band, formed in 2002 in Birmingham.
