The Antidote (Moonspell Album)
''The Antidote'' is the sixth studio album by Portuguese gothic metal band Moonspell, released in 2003 by Century Media. It is regarded as a return to a heavier musical style in comparison to the previous album, '' Darkness and Hope'', although it is nonetheless quite different from all the previous albums. The track list was altered for the vinyl version to better suit the side lengths. The third track, "Everything Invaded", had a music video. Book The album was released with a (limited) book named ''O Antídoto'' ("the antidote") by José Luís Peixoto. They both share a single concept and the same story. Each song in the CD is sister to a chapter in the book that enhances the story in the lyrics. The CD contains the book in electronic format. Moonspell
Moonspell is a Portuguese gothic metal band formed in 1992. The group released their first EP, ''Under the Moonspell'', in 1994 and followed up with their debut album, '' Wolfheart'', a year later. They quickly became the most recognizable metal band from Portugal and a key figure in gothic metal. Moonspell achieved success in Portugal with their 1998 album '' Sin/Pecado''. With '' Memorial'' (2006), the group also became the first Portuguese metal band to have a record certified Gold. Kai "Hiili" Hiilesmaa (born December 1966) is a Finnish record producer and musician. He is the vocalist of the rock music, rock band The Skreppers, former drummer of the doom metal band KYPCK and former keyboardist of the rock band Daniel Lioneye. He has worked with several internationally recognized rock groups, including his near 20-year association with Finnish band HIM (Finnish band), HIM. Hiilesmaa began producing music professionally in 1995, recording with such bands as HIM, Amorphis and Apocalyptica. Darkness And Hope
''Darkness and Hope'' is the fifth studio album by Portuguese gothic metal band Moonspell, released in 2001. Several different versions were released, with different bonus tracks. One version contained "Os Senhores da Guerra", originally by Madredeus, the second featured "Mr. Crowley", originally by Ozzy Osbourne. Another version had a cover of Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart" as the bonus track. The limited edition contained all three bonus tracks. Artwork The cover of the album features the "Moonspell trident" designed by a Polish artist Wojciech Blasiak. ''Memorial'' is the seventh studio album by Portuguese gothic metal band Moonspell, released on 24 April 2006 by SPV/Steamhammer. The album is available in three versions: a standard edition, a Portugal exclusive with the "Phantom North" bonus track, and a limited digipak edition with the "Atlantic" bonus track. On 16 January 2007, ''Memorial'' was certified gold by the Associação Fonográfica Portuguesa for selling over 10,000 copies in Portugal. This is the first time a Portuguese heavy metal group has received this award. José Luís Marques Peixoto (; born September 4, 1974) is a Portuguese author, poet and playwright. A professional writer since 2001, his works have been translated into more than 30 languages. Biography José Luis Peixoto was born in the village of Galveias, in the Portuguese region of Alentejo. He lived in Galveias until the age of 18. He obtained a bachelor degree on Modern Languages and Literature from NOVA University Lisbon.
