Darkness And Hope
''Darkness and Hope'' is the fifth studio album by Portuguese gothic metal band Moonspell, released in 2001. Several different versions were released, with different bonus tracks. One version contained "Os Senhores da Guerra", originally by Madredeus, the second featured "Mr. Crowley", originally by Ozzy Osbourne. Another version had a cover of Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart" as the bonus track. The limited edition contained all three bonus tracks. Artwork The cover of the album features the "Moonspell trident" designed by a Polish artist Wojciech Blasiak. The sign, later refined in '' The Antidote''s artwork, became recognizable as a symbol of the band. Moonspell
Moonspell is a Portuguese gothic metal band formed in 1992. The group released their first EP, ''Under the Moonspell'', in 1994 and followed up with their debut album, '' Wolfheart'', a year later. They quickly became the most recognizable metal band from Portugal and a key figure in gothic metal. Moonspell achieved success in Portugal with their 1998 album '' Sin/Pecado''. With '' Memorial'' (2006), the group also became the first Portuguese metal band to have a record certified Gold. Madredeus () are a Portuguese musical ensemble formed in 1985, in Lisbon. Their music combines traditional Portuguese music, fado and folk music. Madredeus are one of the most successful music groups from Portugal, having sold over 3 million albums worldwide. History 1985–1993: Formation and first lineup Madredeus' first lineup consisted of Pedro Ayres Magalhães (classical guitar), Rodrigo Leão (keyboard synthesizer), Francisco Ribeiro (cello), Gabriel Gomes (accordion) and Teresa Salgueiro (vocals). "Mr. Crowley" is a song by British heavy metal vocalist Ozzy Osbourne, about English occultist Aleister Crowley. Written by Osbourne, guitarist Randy Rhoads and bass guitarist/lyricist Bob Daisley, it was released on Osbourne's debut solo album ''Blizzard of Ozz'' in September 1980 in the United Kingdom. "Love Will Tear Us Apart" is a song by English rock band Joy Division, released in June 1980 as a non-album single. Its lyrics were inspired by lead singer Ian Curtis's marital problems and struggles with epilepsy. The single was released the month after his suicide. Joy Division were an English rock band formed in Salford in 1976. The group consisted of vocalist Ian Curtis, guitarist/keyboardist Bernard Sumner, bassist Peter Hook and drummer Stephen Morris. John Michael "Ozzy" Osbourne (born 3 December 1948) is an English singer, songwriter, and television personality. The Antidote (Moonspell Album)
''The Antidote'' is the sixth studio album by Portuguese gothic metal band Moonspell, released in 2003 by Century Media. It is regarded as a return to a heavier musical style in comparison to the previous album, '' Darkness and Hope'', although it is nonetheless quite different from all the previous albums. The track list was altered for the vinyl version to better suit the side lengths. The third track, "Everything Invaded", had a music video. Book The album was released with a (limited) book named ''O Antídoto'' ("the antidote") by José Luís Peixoto. They both share a single concept and the same story. Each song in the CD is sister to a chapter in the book that enhances the story in the lyrics. The CD contains the book in electronic format.
