The Amur Waves International Military Bands Festival
The Amur Waves International Military Bands Festival is an annual military music event and military tattoo held in Khabarovsk on Lenin Square, Khabarovsk. Participating in the festival are Russian and foreign military bands, folk groups, and honor guards. The festival is considered to be one of the most significant events in the cultural life of the capital of the Russian Far East. Oleg Fedoseev is the current director of festival. History The idea of a military tattoo in Khabarovsk came from Lieutenant General Valery Khalilov, then in his position as director of the Military Band Service of the Armed Forces of Russia, during his visit to the city in 2009 as one of the judges for the Nikolai Mikhailov Massed Bands Contest. Seeing the potential in the contest, Khalilov saw an opportunity to create a festival similar to the Spasskaya Tower Military Music Festival and Tattoo in Moscow. Khabarovsk ( rus, Хабaровск, a=Хабаровск.ogg, r=Habárovsk, p=xɐˈbarəfsk) is the largest types of inhabited localities in Russia, city and the administrative centre of Khabarovsk Krai, Russia,Law #109 located from the China–Russia border, at the confluence of the Amur River, Amur and Ussuri Rivers, about north of Vladivostok. Khabarovsk Krai ( rus, Хабаровский край, r=Khabarovsky kray, p=xɐˈbarəfskʲɪj kraj) is a federal subject (a krai) of Russia. It is geographically located in the Russian Far East and is a part of the Far Eastern Federal District. Military Band Of The Central Military District
Military Band of the Central Military District is a military band unit of the Russian Armed Forces, based in Yekaterinburg. It is part of the Military Band Service of the Armed Forces of Russia as well as the Central Military District. It is one of the leading creative musical groups in the Urals, Volga Region and Western Siberia in terms of brass music. Especially famous are its musical numbers, accompanied by synchronous dance movements, for which the military musicians have been commonly nicknamed the "dancing orchestra." The Military Band of the Eastern Military District is a military band unit of the Russian Armed Forces. It is a branch of the Military Band Service of the Armed Forces of Russia. The band mainly performs in Khabarovsk and in cities in the Eastern Military District. It is the oldest creative collective in the Russian Far East. Transfiguration Cathedral, Khabarovsk
The Transfiguration Cathedral (russian: Спасо-Преображенский собор, ''Spaso-Preobrazhensky sobor'') on a steep bluff overlooking the Amur River in Khabarovsk stands 96 meters tall and is supposed to be the third tallest church in Russia after St. Isaac's Cathedral and the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. It was built over 2001-2004 to a traditional design reminiscent of Konstantin Thon's works. The church is surmounted by four Ukrainian-style gilded domes, the central one being the largest.
