Thalassery Railway Station
Thalassery railway station ''(Code:TLY)'' is a railway station serving the City of Thalassery in Kerala. It lies in the Shoranur–Mangalore section of the Southern Railways. It is the third largest station in Kerala in terms of number of passengers under Palakkad division. The station has two platforms and three tracks. Though no trains originate from this station, trains halting at the station connect the city to prominent cities in India such as Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kozhikode, Coimbatore, Quilon, New Delhi, Mangalore, Pune, Jaipur, Jammu Tawi, Okha and so forth. The old platform ticket counter is closed after the renovation of Thalassery railway station. The new ticket counter is located at Platform No. 02. The Malabar Coast is the southwestern coast of the Indian subcontinent. Executive Express
Vanchinad Express is an intercity express train running between Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam in the state of Kerala, India. It is operated by the Thiruvananthapuram division of the Southern Railway zone of the Indian Railways. Etymology Vanchinad was one of the names of the old princely state of Travancore, which actually had the shape of a ship. The train runs along most of what was once Travancore, and hence the train has been given this name. History and relevance The train was introduced in 1985 between Thiruvananthapuram Central and Ernakulam Junction. During initial period the train had only 2 stops at Kottayam and Kollam railway stations and was one of the fastest trains running in Kerala. The Parasuram Express is an express train run by Indian Railways connecting Mangalore, Karnataka with Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu. History The train (Train No: 49/50) was initially run between Cochin and Shoranur. The train was later extended to Trivandrum and Mangalore Central on both sides. In 2012 the train was again extended to Nagarcoil.
