Territorio De Zaguates
Territorio de Zaguates ("kingdom of strays" or "land of the strays" in English) is a free-range no-kill dog sanctuary in Costa Rica. Sheltering more than 1,000 dogs at any given time, the sanctuary has rescued more than 12,000 dogs. Its creative campaign, "When you adopt a mutt, you adopt a unique breed", has increased adoptions of mixed-breed dogs in Costa Rica. History Lya Battle, born in Canada, and Alvaro Saumet, from Colombia, married in 1994. They originally began taking in abandoned dogs to their home in Costa Rica in 2005, but it quickly became too crowded. When Battle inherited property from her grandfather, they moved to that 378-acre farm in 2008. Samut and Battle intended the shelter to house geriatric dogs. Poás Volcano
The Poás Volcano, ( es, Volcán Poás), is an active stratovolcano in central Costa Rica and is located within Poas Volcano National Park. It has erupted 40 times since 1828, including April 2017 when visitors and residents were evacuated. The volcano and surrounding park were closed for nearly 17 months, with a 2.5 kilometer safety perimeter established around the erupting crater. As of September 1, 2018 the park has reopened with limited access only to the crater observation area and requires a reservation to be made on the National Park Website. Adjacent trails to Lake Botos as well as the museum at the visitor center remained closed. The volcano erupted briefly twice in September 2019. ''Dogs'' is a 2018 American documentary television series which premiered on Netflix. The series, created by Glen Zipper, was released on November 16, 2018.
