Elfmania
''Elfmania'' is a 2D fighting game developed by Terramarque and released by Renegade Software in 1994 for the Amiga. Gameplay The gameplay is a standard fighting game, but Elfmania does not have special moves triggered by various button combinations, as is typical in most other games of this type. Instead, there are only a few standard attacks and one special move for each character. In order to win the game, different characters have to be used, which need to be bought. To buy more expensive and stronger characters, the player collects gold coins as a reward for beating enemies. Multiplayer fights use an odd variation of tic-tac-toe: the game has an overhead map consisting of squares. Players choose where to fight, and the square is marked with the winner's symbol. Getting a line of six squares wins the game. Characters There are a total of six characters to choose from, in order of cost to hire and with the first three costing the same amount of gold. *Janika, an elf who chos ...

Stardust (1993 Video Game)
''Stardust'' is a single screen multidirectional shooter video game for the Amiga, released by the Finnish company Bloodhouse in 1993. The game is essentially an ''Asteroids'' clone with enhancements, such as power-ups, shields, a high-energy techno module soundtrack, vivid use of colors and the occasional tunnel section that revolves around a sphere. The game's graphics drew critical acclaim for the aforementioned tunnels and the liberal use of ray-tracing. The company has since merged with Terramarque to form Housemarque. In a not atypical bout of Finnish humor, the developers gave several things ludicrous names in their own language, which were (and still are) highly obscure in the international market. The damsel in distress is named after a brand of margarine, and the final confrontation takes place over the planet Imatra. Ports The game was ported to MS-DOS, but not by the original programmers. This version was buggy, scant on details found in the Amiga version and s ...

Renegade Software
Renegade Software was a UK-based games publisher, founded in 1991 by the Bitmap Brothers. Initially, the Bitmap Brothers used the new label to publish their own games, after they had become dissatisfied with the practices of publishing companies (their previous games were published by Mirrorsoft). Their stated goal was to give game developers more artistic freedom and more recognition. One of the first games released by Renegade Software was Magic Pockets, for which they had struck a deal with music publisher Rhythm King to include a Betty Boo song in the game. Later Renegade also published games by other developers and went on as one of the successful independent publishers of its time, until it was acquired by WarnerMedia, Time Warner in 1995 to become "Warner Interactive Entertainment Ltd", still publishing under the Renegade label. before being merged with the European arm of Time Warner Interactive in the same year, rebranding as Warner Interactive Europe. Battle Royale Game
A battle royale game is an online multiplayer video game genre that blends last-man-standing gameplay with the survival, exploration and scavenging elements of a survival game. Battle royale games involve dozens to hundreds of players, who start with minimal equipment and then must eliminate all other opponents while avoiding being trapped outside of a shrinking "safe area", with the winner being the last player or team alive. The name for the genre is taken from the 2000 Japanese film '' Battle Royale'', itself based on the novel of the same name, which presents a similar theme of a last-man-standing competition in a shrinking play zone. The genre's origins arose from mods for large-scale online survival games like ''Minecraft'' and '' ARMA 2'' in the early 2010s. By the end of the decade, the genre became a cultural phenomenon, with standalone games such as '' PUBG: Battlegrounds'' (2017), ''Fortnite Battle Royale'' (2017), ''Apex Legends'' (2019) and '' Call of Duty: Warz ...

Arcade Genre
An arcade video game takes player input from its controls, processes it through electrical or computerized components, and displays output to an electronic monitor or similar display. Most arcade video games are coin-operated, housed in an arcade cabinet, and located in amusement arcades alongside other kinds of arcade games. Until the late 1990s, arcade video games were the largest and most technologically advanced segment of the video game industry. Early prototypical entries ''Galaxy Game'' and '' Computer Space'' in 1971 established the principle operations for arcade games, and Atari's ''Pong'' in 1972 is recognized as the first successful commercial arcade video game. Improvements in computer technology and gameplay design led to a golden age of arcade video games, the exact dates of which are debated but range from the late 1970s to mid-1980s. This golden age includes ''Space Invaders'', '' Pac-Man'', and ''Donkey Kong''. The arcade industry had a resurgence from the ...

Pelit
''Pelit'' ("Games") is a Finnish video games magazine published in Helsinki, Finland. History ''Pelit'' dates back to 1987, as an annual extra games-only issue of '' MikroBitti'' and '' C-lehti''. Another annual issue was published in 1988, and in 1989 it became semi-annual (two times per year). In 1992, the staff of the semi-annual computer game book launched ''Pelit'' as a fully-fledged magazine. Its layout and contents have occasionally been revised over the years. Game walkthroughs were dropped as the adventure and old-fashioned role-playing games fell out of fashion. A comic, ''KyöPelit'', was started in 1993. While the magazine started with four computer platforms, coverage of the Amiga, Commodore 64 and Atari ST was reduced as the market share for those platforms diminished. The most notable changes to the magazine format were the 1998 founding of its sister publication, the PlayStation-focused ''Peliasema'', and the later merging of the two due to the growth of the consol ...

MS-DOS
MS-DOS ( ; acronym for Microsoft Disk Operating System, also known as Microsoft DOS) is an operating system for x86-based personal computers mostly developed by Microsoft. Collectively, MS-DOS, its rebranding as IBM PC DOS, and a few operating systems attempting to be compatible with MS-DOS, are sometimes referred to as "DOS" (which is also the generic acronym for disk operating system). MS-DOS was the main operating system for IBM PC compatibles during the 1980s, from which point it was gradually superseded by operating systems offering a graphical user interface (GUI), in various generations of the graphical Microsoft Windows operating system. IBM licensed and re-released it in 1981 as PC DOS 1.0 for use in its PCs. Although MS-DOS and PC DOS were initially developed in parallel by Microsoft and IBM, the two products diverged after twelve years, in 1993, with recognizable differences in compatibility, syntax, and capabilities. Beginning in 1988 with DR-DO ...
