Terra Informa
''Terra Informa'' is a weekly, half-hour environmental news program produced out of CJSR Radio in Edmonton, Alberta. Currently airing in more than 50 communities from coast to coast, it is one of the most widely broadcast shows on Canadian campus and community radio. The program covers environmentally themed news stories from across Canada with an emphasis on grassroots movements and under-reported stories. Billing itself as, "Your source for the news that the mainstream media missed," the show's reports frequently include interviews with directly affected communities and members of local First Nations, in addition to politicians, academics, and environmental groups. Background ''Terra Informa'' was started by Paul Reikie and Tara Irwin and began broadcasting in 2003. It initially focused on news stories affecting Alberta, and in particular Edmonton. Peace River, Alberta
Peace River, originally named Peace River Crossing and known as in French, is a town in northwest Alberta, Canada. It is along the banks of the Peace River at its confluence with the Smoky River, the Heart River and Pat's Creek. It is approximately northwest of Edmonton and northeast of Grande Prairie on Highway 2. It was known as the Village of Peace River Crossing between 1914 and 1916. The Peace River townsite is nearly below the relatively flat terrain surrounding it. Pat's Creek used to be an open channel through the town but is now channelled through a culvert under the town streets, re-emerging at the mouth on the Peace River at the Riverfront Park. National Campus And Community Radio Association
The National Campus and Community Radio Association/L'Association nationale des radios étudiantes et communautaires (NCRA/ANREC) is a non-profit organization of campus radio and community radio stations in Canada. It represents the interests of the sector to government (particularly the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC)) and other agencies, and promotes community radio in Canada. Since 1981, it has helped lower tariffs affecting radio stations and assisted new stations to launch, as well as to obtain operating funds. Guelph
Guelph ( ; 2021 Canadian Census population 143,740) is a city in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. Known as "The Royal City", Guelph is roughly east of Kitchener and west of Downtown Toronto, at the intersection of Highway 6, Highway 7 and Wellington County Road 124. It is the seat of Wellington County, but is politically independent of it. CFRU-FM, airing at 93.3 on the FM dial, is a campus radio station based at the University of Guelph in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. CFRU is a volunteer-run campus and community radio station. CFRU is a member of the National Campus and Community Radio Association. The station hosted the 2005 national conference of that organization. History Radio at the University of Guelph has a long history dating back to 1939 when there was a credit course in radio broadcasting offered by the Ontario Agricultural College. Radio curriculum was taught at the University of Guelph until the late 1950s. CJUM-FM (101.5 FM, ''UMFM'') is a volunteer-driven campus radio station in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, based at the University of Manitoba and transmits with 1,200 watts from an antenna located at Portage and Main in downtown Winnipeg. History The original CJUM, 1975–80 The station originally began broadcasting at 101.1 FM 6 a.n, October 27, 1975. CJUM-FM was one of the two first campus radio stations ever granted a broadcast licence in Canada, the other being Carleton University's CKCU-FM. CKXU-FM is a Canadian Not-for-profit radio station, broadcasting at 88.3 FM broadcasting, FM, from the University of Lethbridge, in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. History CKXU began as CKUL in 1972, when a public address system was set up in Section A of University Hall at the University of Lethbridge to broadcast musical content inside the building from mid-morning to early afternoon. The station was managed by a three-member executive under the auspices of the University of Lethbridge Students' Union.
