Taínos (film)
''Taínos'' is a 2005 Puerto Rican film written and directed by Benjamín López. The film follows Sara Cordero (Miró), a young archaeology student, who organizes an expedition to La Mora Cave in the town of Comerío with three friends. A young and mysterious man called Yabey (Reyes) offers to guide her expedition. As they venture deeper into the forest, they discover a tribe of Taíno Indians living away from civilization. This event and other circumstances spark a series of conflicts that divide and endanger the whole group. Danny Fraticelli is a Puerto Rican musician, singer and actor. Fraticelli has appeared in many local, international movies and Soap Operas. On his music career, he was the front singer of the Puerto Rican rock band Niño Planeta. Comerío, Puerto Rico
Comerío () is a town and municipality of Puerto Rico in the center-eastern region of island, north of Aibonito; south of Naranjito and Bayamón; east of Barranquitas; and west of Cidra and Aguas Buenas. Comerío is spread over 7 barrios and Comerío Pueblo (the downtown area and the administrative center of the city). It is part of the San Juan-Caguas-Guaynabo Metropolitan Statistical Area. Taíno People
The Taíno were a historic indigenous people of the Caribbean whose culture has been continued today by Taíno descendant communities and Taíno revivalist communities. At the time of European contact in the late 15th century, they were the principal inhabitants of most of what is now Cuba, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Haiti, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, and the northern Lesser Antilles. The Lucayan branch of the Taíno were the first New World peoples encountered by Christopher Columbus, in the Bahama Archipelago on October 12, 1492. The Taíno spoke a dialect of the Arawakan language group. They lived in agricultural societies ruled by caciques with fixed settlements and a matrilineal system of kinship and inheritance. The history of the Cinema industry in Puerto Rico predates Hollywood, being conceived after the first industries emerged in some locations of the United States, Switzerland, Denmark, Italy, France, Great Britain and Germany. During the US invasion of the island in 1898, American soldiers brought cameras to record what they saw. By 1912, Puerto Ricans would begin to produce their own films. After the early images recorded by the American soldiers in 1898, most of the films produced in the island were documentaries. It wasn't until 1912 that Rafael Colorado D'Assoy recorded the first non-documentary film titled ''Un drama en Puerto Rico''.
