ComerÃo, Puerto Rico
ComerÃo () is a town and municipality of Puerto Rico in the center-eastern region of island, north of Aibonito; south of Naranjito and Bayamón; east of Barranquitas; and west of Cidra and Aguas Buenas. ComerÃo is spread over 7 barrios and ComerÃo Pueblo (the downtown area and the administrative center of the city). It is part of the San Juan-Caguas-Guaynabo Metropolitan Statistical Area. History ComerÃo was founded on June 12, 1826. Originally named Sabana del Palmar, but later changed to ''ComerÃo''. In 1854, nearly 1000 acres (1000 ) of land were being used for agriculture. In 1894, there was one sugar and two coffee plantations ( estates) in ComerÃo. In the early 20th century, Comerio residents, had a short but legendary territory war with residents of the city of Barranquitas. ComerÃo Barrio-pueblo
ComerÃo barrio-pueblo is a barrio and the administrative center ( seat) of ComerÃo, a municipality of Puerto Rico. Its population in 2010 was 3,657. Sectors Barrios (which are, in contemporary times, roughly comparable to minor civil divisions) in turn are further subdivided into smaller local populated place areas/units called sectores (''sectors'' in English). The types of ''sectores'' may vary, from normally ''sector'' to ''urbanización'' to ''reparto'' to ''barriada'' to ''residencial'', among others. Telephone Numbers In Puerto Rico
Telephone numbers in Puerto Rico are assigned under the North American Numbering Plan (NANP). Prior to March 1, 1996, Puerto Rico was one of many Caribbean islands served by area code 809. On that date Puerto Rico was assigned the new area code 787 (with the mnemonic PUR or PTR). Permissive dialing of 809 ended January 31, 1997. Within only four years, 787 was already on the brink of exhaustion due to the proliferation of cell phones and dial-up Internet connections. To solve the problem, 787 was overlaid with area code 939 in or about September 2001, with ten-digit dialing required for all calls. A split had been ruled out in order to spare Puerto Ricans the expense and burden of changing their numbers for the second time in a decade, the island's extremely dense population, and the lack of a suitable boundary for a split. 939 is primarily used for cell phones. Aguas Buenas, (, ), popularly known as "''La Ciudad de las Aguas Claras''" or "''The City of Clear Waters''", is a town and municipality of Puerto Rico located in the Central Mountain Range, north of Cidra, south of Bayamón, Guaynabo and San Juan; east of Comerio; and north-west of Caguas. Cidra () is a town and municipality of Puerto Rico located in the central region of the island, north of Cayey; south of ComerÃo and Aguas Buenas; east of Aibonito and Barranquitas; and west of Caguas. Bayamón (, ) is a city, municipality of Puerto Rico and suburb of San Juan located in the northern coastal valley, north of Aguas Buenas and ComerÃo; south of Toa Baja and Cataño; west of Guaynabo; and east of Toa Alta and Naranjito. Naranjito (, ) is a town and municipality of Puerto Rico located in the central region of the island, south of Toa Alta; north of Barranquitas and ComerÃo; east of Corozal; and west of Bayamón.
