Tauno Johannes Luiro (24 February 1932 – 29 October 1955) was a Finnish ski jumper. Career In February 1951 he became the first non-Norwegian to win the youth ski jumping competition in Holmenkollen, Oslo. On 2 March 1951 he set a new world record at 139 metres (456 ft) on Heini-Klopfer-Skiflugschanze in Oberstdorf, West Germany, which remained unbeaten until 1961. Tauno Valdemar Palo (born Tauno Brännäs; 25 October 1908 – 24 May 1982) was a Finnish actor and singer in what some consider the golden age of Finnish cinema. In ''Guide to the Cinema of Sweden and Finland'' Peter von Bagh names Palo as the most renowned, the best-loved, and quite indisputably the greatest and the best actor of Finnish cinema. His skill to combine lightweight and youthful charm with heavyweight acting was seen most clearly in the theatre. Tauno Olavi Marttinen (27 September 1912 – 18 July 2008) was a Finnish composer of contemporary classical music. Born in Helsinki, Marttinen studied in Viipuri and Helsinki. His earliest works are mainly late romantic. His output includes ten symphonies, concertos for various instruments, operas, chamber music, and ballets, among others. In 1965, Marttinen was awarded a Pro Finlandia medal. Marttinen was named a professor by the president Urho Kekkonen in 1972.
