Taulumäki Church
Taulumäki Church () is the principal Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland, Lutheran church in Jyväskylä, the administrative centre of the Central Finland Regions of Finland, region. Designed by architect Elsi Borg (1893–1958), its construction began in 1928. The church was inaugurated on October 27, 1929, and replaces the 1885 church designed by Ludvig Isak Lindqvist, which had burned down on January 27, 1918. The church has frescoes on Biblical themes – ''Lapsi on meille syntynyt'' ("To us a child is born", Isaiah 9:6) and ''Se on täytetty'' ("It is finished," John 19:30) – painted by Paavo Leinonen.Marja Junttila, ''Paavo Leinonen 1894–1964.'' The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland (; ) is a national church of Finland. It is part of the Lutheranism, Lutheran branch of Christianity. Central Finland
Central Finland (; ) is a Regions of Finland, region ( / ) in Finland. It borders the regions of Päijät-Häme, Pirkanmaa, South Ostrobothnia, Central Ostrobothnia, North Ostrobothnia, Northern Savonia, North Savo, and Southern Savonia, South Savo. Elsi Borg
Elsi Naemi Borg (October 3, 1893 – December 30, 1958) was a Finnish architect. Life She was born in Nastola and died in Helsinki. She graduated from Helsinki University of Technology in 1919. She designed the infamous children’s hospital Children's Castle in Helsinki and the Taulumäki Church in Jyväskylä. She worked with Olavi Sortta to design the military hospital in Viborg. Her brother was architect Kaarlo Borg. She is also the sister of graphic artist Esther Borg and Parliament member Margit Borg-Sundman. Fresco
Fresco ( or frescoes) is a technique of mural painting executed upon freshly laid ("wet") lime plaster. Water is used as the vehicle for the dry-powder pigment to merge with the plaster, and with the setting of the plaster, the painting becomes an integral part of the wall. The word ''fresco'' () is derived from the Italian adjective ''fresco'' meaning "fresh", and may thus be contrasted with fresco-secco or secco mural painting techniques, which are applied to dried plaster, to supplement painting in fresco. Eero Järnefelt
Erik "Eero" Nikolai Järnefelt (8 November 1863 – 15 November 1937) was a Finnish painter and art professor. He is best known for his portraits and landscapes of the area around Koli National Park, in the North Karelia region of Finland. He was a medal winner at the Paris ''Exposition Universelle'' of 1889 and 1900, taught art at the University of Helsinki and was chairman of the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts.
