The Taipei Mission in Korea () (, Hanja:駐韓國 臺北 代表部) represents the interests of Taiwan in South Korea, functioning as a ''de facto'' embassy in the absence of diplomatic relations. Its South Korean counterpart is the Korean Mission in Taipei. History The Mission was established on 25 January 1994. following an agreement on July 27, 1993. This was after South Korea ceased to recognise the government in Taipei as the Republic of China, following the establishment of relations with the People's Republic of China on 27 August 1992. On September 1, 2004, representatives of the two countries' missions signed an aviation agreement allowing aircraft of each side to enter the airspace of the other, permitting the resumption of direct scheduled flights by Korean and Taiwanese airlines, which had been discontinued in 1992. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) (MOFA; ) is a ministry of the Republic of China (Taiwan). The Republic of China government recognized the formation of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea on April 13, 1919, as one of the participants of the Cairo Conference, which resulted in the Cairo Declaration. Joseph Shih or Ting Joseph Shih () is a Taiwanese diplomat and politician. He was the nation's representative to South Korea from 2014 to 2018, and the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Executive Yuan from 2013 to 2014. It is owned by foods company I-Mei Foods, which also publishes the Chinese-language news weekly of the same name. History ''China News'' was founded on 6 June 1949 in Taipei by James Wei, a journalist with close ties to the KMT and former employee of the Ministry of Information. The newspaper was established to cater for foreign residents and the local population in Taiwan. National Institute For Compilation And Translation
The National Institute for Compilation and Translation (NICT; ) was the highest translation agency in the Republic of China. It is in charge of translating academic and cultural texts, as well as textbooks.
