Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi is a Pakistani cleric and the nominated head of the organization All Pakistan Ulema Council. The Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) is a Muslim umbrella group and organization in Pakistan whose members include Islamic clerics and legal scholars from a range of Islamic traditions. Maulana Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi is its current chief. The organization was established initially to support a Christian girl who was charged with blasphemy. Pakistan Ulema Council was established in 1990. The fundamental reason for establishing the PUC was to put an end to the growing sectarian violence and interfaith confrontation in the country, and to spread Islam's true message of peace, love, forbearance, harmony and services to mankind throughout the world. Muslim World League
The Muslim World League (MWL; ar, رابطة العالم الاسلامي, Rabitat al-Alam al-Islami, ) is an International Islamic NGO based in Mecca, Saudi Arabia that promotes what it calls the true message of Islam by advancing moderate values that promote peace, tolerance and love. The NGO has been funded by the Saudi government from its inception in 1962, with that contribution growing to approximately $13 million by 1980. Deobandi is a Islamic revival, revivalist movement within Sunni Islam, adhering to the Hanafi school of law, formed in the late 19th century around the Darul Uloom Deoband, Darul Uloom Madrassa in Deoband, India, from which the name derives, by Muhammad Qasim Nanautavi, Rashid Ahmad Gangohi, and several others, after the Indian Rebellion of 1857, Indian Rebellion of 1857–58.
