Tabaré Viera
Tabaré Viera Duarte (born 7 April 1955) is a Uruguayan politician of the Colorado Party (PC), serving as Minister of Tourism since August 23, 2021 under president Luis Lacalle Pou. Political career He was elected for the first time to the Chamber of Representatives in the general election of 1984, in which he participated supporting Dr. Altivo Esteves to the Municipality of Rivera and Julio María Sanguinetti to the presidency of the Republic. In the 1989 election he failed to be reelected, and during the Luis Alberto Lacalle administration he was part of the board of the State Sewage & Water Works (OSE) representing the Colorado Party. After the death of Altivo Esteves, Viera replaced him as the main leader of ''Foro Batllista'' in Rivera Department. Julio María Sanguinetti Coirolo (; born 6 January 1936 in Montevideo, Uruguay) is a Uruguayan politician, lawyer and journalist, who twice served as President of Uruguay (from March 1985 until March 1990, and again, from March 1995 until March 2000) for the Colorado Party (Uruguay), Partido Colorado. A lawyer and journalist by profession, he was born into a middle-class family of Italian origin from Genoa. He studied Law and Social Sciences at the University of the Republic. He received his law degree in 1961, and later combined his legal practice with work as a journalist. 2014 Uruguayan General Election
General elections were held in Uruguay on 26 October 2014, alongside a constitutional referendum. As no presidential candidate received an absolute majority in the first round of voting, a runoff took place on 30 November. Primary elections to determine each party's presidential candidate had been held on 1 June. Incumbent President José Mujica was ineligible to run owing to a constitutional limit on serving consecutive terms. The governing Broad Front nominated Mujica's predecessor, Tabaré Vázquez, as its candidate. Vázquez came within a few thousand votes of a first-round victory and advanced to the runoff with National Party candidate Luis Alberto Lacalle Pou, son of former president Luis Alberto Lacalle de Herrera. 2009 Uruguayan General Election
General elections were held in Uruguay on 25 October 2009 alongside a two-part referendum. As no candidate for president received more than 50% of the vote, a second round was held on 29 November between the top two candidates, José Mujica of the ruling Broad Front (who received 48% of the vote) and Luis Alberto Lacalle of the National Party (29%). Mujica won the run-off with 55% of the vote. In the parliamentary elections, the Broad Front retained its majorities in both chambers, winning 16 of the 30 seats in the senators and 50 of the 99 seats in the Chamber of Deputies.
