Ta Shing (yacht)
Ta Shing Yacht Building () is a yacht builder located in Tainan, Taiwan. The company was founded in 1957 under the ''Shing Sheng'' brand name. Between its founding and 2015, the yard has delivered over 1,200 custom-made boats. Ta Shing designs and builds under its own brand including Taswell, Tashiba, Orion and also as an OEM for Mason, Baba, Panda, Skye, Mystic and Nordhavn. The range includes wooden and fiberglass fishing boats, sailboats, and motoryachts. History The founder, CM Juan established Shing Sheng boatyard in 1957. The company began by building fishing vessels, which were distributed all around Taiwan. Later, Shing Sheng became a pioneer, building the first FRP fishing boat in Taiwan. Tainan
Tainan (), officially Tainan City, is a Special municipality (Taiwan), special municipality in southern Taiwan facing the Taiwan Strait on its western coast. Anping District
Anping District is a district of Tainan, Taiwan. In March 2012, it was named one of the ''Top 10 Small Tourist Towns'' by the Tourism Bureau of Taiwan. It is home to 67,263 people. Name The older place name of Tayouan derives from the ethnonym of a nearby Taiwanese aboriginal tribe, and was written by the Dutch and Portuguese variously as ''Taiouwang'', ''Tayowan'', etc. In his translations of Dutch records, missionary William Campbell used the variant ''Tayouan'' and wrote that ''Taoan'' and ''Taiwan'' also occur. Tayana Yachts
Tayana Yachts is a Taiwanese brand of fiberglass sailboats built by Kaohsiung-based Ta Yang company. Ta Yang means "big ocean" in Mandarin, and Tayana means "belongs to big ocean." The yard was founded in 1973 and has built over 1,400 bluewater cruisers. Designers have included Robert H. Perry, Robert Harris, Robb Ladd, and Pieter Beeldsnijder. Horizon Yacht (often referred to as Horizon Yachts) is a Taiwanese yacht manufacturer headquartered in the city of Kaohsiung. In 2018 Horizon was the tenth largest yacht builder in the world by total feet of yacht delivered. History Horizon Yacht was founded in 1987 by John Lu, Gong Shan Chiai, and Cheng Shun Hui in Kaohsiung. Founded to supply yachts to domestic and American buyers, the company began targeting the European, Australian, and Asian markets in 1989. Ocean Alexander is a Taiwanese yacht manufacturer with shipyards in Taiwan and the United States. In 2021 it was the 4th largest yacht builder in the world by feet of yacht produced. Nordhavn is a trade name of a line of ocean-going trawler-styled motor yachts designed and produced by Pacific Asian Enterprises, Inc. (PAE) Overview PAE designs, builds and markets offshore passagemaking vessels ranging from in length. Baba (yacht)
The Baba 30 was the smallest craft in the range but very popular, with some 170 having been built. They were built as sturdy vessels suitable for making long offshore and ocean passages needing only a couple of people to crew the boat. Although capable of sleeping 5 people they are generally sailed by couples. Most of these boats can be found in NW America but are also spread all around the world's ports and anchorages. History In 1977 Bob Berg, founder of Flying Dutchman International, commissioned yacht designer Robert Perry to design a new small luxury cruising yacht for him. The result was the range of Babas.
