TV Cidade Fortaleza
TV Cidade (channel 8) is a television station in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil, affiliated with RecordTV and owned by Grupo Cidade de Comunicação.. History On August 30, 1978, TV Cidade first went on the air as ''TV Uirapuru'', which broadcast on channel 8. In December the same year, businessman Miguel Dias de Sousa acquired 50% of the station, purchasing the rest in March 1979. TV Uirapuru changed its name to TV Cidade de Fortaleza in June 1981. The station was affiliated with Rede Bandeirantes, with all programming originating from São Paulo. In 1982, the station also began broadcasting TVS' programs. From Monday to Saturday, Rede Bandeirantes programming was scheduled, with Sunday being reserved for the Programa Sílvio Santos (''Silvio Santos Show''). In 1987, the station replaced its Rede Bandeirantes affiliation with that of SBT; during this period, the station was known for producing police programs, leading to high ratings within Ceará. Rede Bandeirantes (, ''Bandeirantes Network''), or simply known as Band (), is a Brazilian free-to-air television network. It began broadcasting on May 13, 1967 on VHF channel 13 in São Paulo. Its founder was businessman João Saad with the help of his father-in-law and former São Paulo governor Adhemar de Barros. In terms of audience and revenue, it is currently the fourth largest Brazilian television network. It broadcasts throughout Brazil through its owned-and-operated stations and affiliates. The Sistema Brasileiro de Televisão (; SBT ; "Brazilian Television System") is a Brazilian television network founded on Wednesday, 19 August 1981, by the businessman and television personality Silvio Santos. The company was established after a public tender by the Brazilian Federal Government to form two new networks, created from revoked concessions of the defunct Tupi and Excelsior networks. The SBT was funded in the same day that the concession agreement was signed, and that the act was broadcast live by the network, so that this was his first program aired.
