TVQ-10
TVQ is the Brisbane television station of Network 10 in Australia. History In April 1964, the Postmaster-General's Department granted Universal Telecasters a broadcasting licence. The channel was allocated channel 0 (the 0 was pronounced as the letter O instead of "zero") on the VHF band and commenced broadcasting on 1 July 1965 as TVQ-0. Ansett Transport Industries initially held a 49% shareholding, before acquiring the remaining shares in 1970. After News Limited acquired a controlling stake in Ansett, it was required to sell TVQ due to restrictions on the number of television stations one organisation could own. TVQ was sold to Ampol (67%) and 2SM (33%). In 1984 TVQ was purchased by Qintex. Ansett Australia was a major Australian airline group, based in Melbourne, Australia. The airline flew domestically within Australia and from the 1990s to destinations in Asia. After operating for 65 years, the airline was placed into administration in 2001 following a financial collapse and subsequent organised liquidation in 2002, subject to deed of company arrangement. ''Toasted TV'' is an Australian children's television program which aired on Network 10 and later 10 Peach from 22 August 2005 to 18 September 2020. ''Toasted TV'' replaced similar children's program ''Cheez TV'' in the same timeslot. The series originally aired on Network 10 until 25 February 2012, when it moved to 10 Peach (then known as Eleven). It was originally presented by Pip Russell and Dan Sweetman, with the final hosts Ollie McCormack and Lia Walsh. On 13 July 2020, Network 10 announced that ''Toasted TV'' has been axed and that the show would end production in August; the final episode aired on 18 September 2020. Toowoomba ( , nicknamed 'The Garden City' and 'T-Bar') is a city in the Toowoomba Region of the Darling Downs, Queensland, Australia. It is west of Queensland's capital city Brisbane by road. TVSN (an acronym for "Television Shopping Network") is an Australian and New Zealand broadcast, cable television and satellite television network specializing in home shopping. It is owned by parent company Direct Group Pty Ltd, a home marketing and shopping company based in the Sydney suburb of Frenchs Forest, which also owns sister channel Expo. The channel broadcasts live every day from 08:30 to 21:30 AEST. History TVSN began broadcasting in 1995 from their Lane Cove, Sydney headquarters. 10 Shake is an Australian free-to-air digital television multichannel owned by Network 10. It launched on 27 September 2020 at 6am. The channel includes a mix of shows for people aged forty and under. It broadcasts programming for children from 6am to 6pm, and from 6pm to 6am shows for young teens to adults. History In May 2020, ViacomCBS Australia and New Zealand Chief Content Officer and Executive Vice President, Beverley McGarvey, announced that Network 10 would unveil a fourth digital channel later in the year. 10 Bold is an Australian free-to-air digital television multichannel owned by Network 10. It originally launched on 26 March 2009 as One HD with a focus on broadcasting sports-based programming and events, but rebranded to One in April 2011 to more reality, scripted and adventure-based programming aimed at males between the ages of 25 to 54. As of October 2018, the channel now primarily broadcasts dramatic programming aimed towards viewers 40 and older. 10 HD is an Australian free-to-air television channel that was originally launched on 16 December 2007 on channel 1. The channel was available to high definition digital television viewers through Network 10 owned-and-operated stations. The multichannel broadcast live sport, entertainment, films, documentaries, science fiction and news. The channel ceased broadcasting on 25 March 2009, and the following day was replaced by One HD (now known as 10 Bold). Following the government's decision to remove the SD Primary Channel limitations, the channel restored as an HD simulcast on 2 March 2016 on channel 13. On 16 September 2020, Network 10 moved 10 HD to digital channels 1 and 15 following the addition of 10 Shake from 27 September 2020. World Expo 88
World Expo 88, also known as Expo 88, was a specialised Expo held in Brisbane, the state capital of Queensland, Australia, during a six-month period between Saturday, 30 April 1988 and Sunday, 30 October 1988, inclusive. The theme of the Expo was "Leisure in the Age of Technology", and the mascot for the Expo was an Australian platypus named Expo Oz. The A$625 million fair was the largest event of the 1988 Bicentennial celebrations of the arrival of the First Fleet in Sydney Harbour. Expo 88 attracted more than 15,760,000 visitors who bought tickets worth A$175 million.
