Sønderjylland Elite Speedway or Southern Jutland Elite Speedway (also known as SES) is a speedway club from Vojens in Denmark, who compete in the Danish Speedway League. History A new team by the name of Sønderjylland Elite Speedway was created to race at the Vojens Speedway Center in 2020 and replaced the Vojens Speedway Klub. The latter still races age group events at the track. Vojens Speedway Center
The Vojens Speedway Center is a Motorcycle speedway track located in Vojens, Denmark. The track has been part-owned since its opening by Denmark's first three time Speedway World Champion Ole Olsen. Track The Speedway Center is a long track which opened in September 1975 and has a spectator capacity of approximately 15,000. Since its opening it has hosted numerous Danish national and international meetings including hosting the Danish Championship in 1977, 1979 and 1981. World Championship meetings The Speedway Center hosted the Speedway World Final in 1988 and again in 1994, the final time the World Championship was held in the single meeting format before the advent of the Speedway Grand Prix series in 1995. Anders Thomsen (born 1 January 1994) is an international speedway rider from Denmark and twice Danish champion. Speedway career Thomsen became champion of Denmark, winning the Danish Championship in 2020. He rode in the second tier of British Speedway from 2013–2016, riding for Glasgow Tigers and Peterborough Panthers. In 2020, he won a bronze medal at the 2020 Speedway of Nations and in 2021, he won the Danish title for the second time and was awarded a permanent wildcard for the 2021 Speedway Grand Prix. In 2022, ten days after a serious injury in a Danish speedway meeting, Thomsen claimed his first Grand Prix victory in Gorzow, Poland, beating Martin Vaculík, Bartosz Zmarzlik, and Patryk Dudek in the final. The Danish Speedway League ( da, Dansk Speedway Liga) or Danish Super League or Metal League as it is called today is the top division of motorcycle speedway in Denmark. Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock (mostly used in Australia and New Zealand). Benjamin Basso (born 2 July 2001) is a speedway rider from Denmark. Speedway career Basso, who was a World Youth champion was signed by Poole Pirates during the SGB Championship 2021 season as a replacement for Ondřej Smetana, who had failed to join the team due to travel issues. The move contributed to a highly successful season for the Pirates as they won the league and Knockout Cup double. In 2022, he rode for the Peterborough Panthers in the SGB Premiership 2022 and for the Glasgow Tigers in the SGB Championship 2022. Nicolai Klindt (born 29 December 1988 in Outrup, Denmark) is a Danish speedway rider who won the 2007 Individual Under-19 European title. Career In 2006, Klindt won the Danish Under 21 Individual Speedway Championship and followed up the success by winning the 2007 European U19 title. In 2008, he signed for his first British league team Wolverhampton Wolves for the 2008 Elite League speedway season and also won his second Danish U21 title.
