Anders Thomsen (speedway Rider)
Anders Thomsen (born 1 January 1994) is an international speedway rider from Denmark and twice Danish champion. Speedway career Thomsen became champion of Denmark, winning the Danish Championship in 2020. He rode in the second tier of British Speedway from 2013–2016, riding for Glasgow Tigers and Peterborough Panthers. In 2020, he won a bronze medal at the 2020 Speedway of Nations and in 2021, he won the Danish title for the second time and was awarded a permanent wildcard for the 2021 Speedway Grand Prix. In 2022, ten days after a serious injury in a Danish speedway meeting, Thomsen claimed his first Grand Prix victory in Gorzow, Poland, beating Martin Vaculík, Bartosz Zmarzlik, and Patryk Dudek in the final. Patryk Dudek
Patryk Dudek (; born 20 June 1992) is a Polish motorcycle speedway rider who is a member of the Polish national speedway team. Career Dudek's father, Sławomir, was a professional rider and Patryk gained his speedway licence in 2008. Dudek won 2009 and 2010 Team U-19 European Champion and 2009 Individual Under-21 Polish Champion titles. In 2017, he won the silver medal during the 2017 Speedway Grand Prix, having accomplished this during his debut season in the Speedway Grand Prix series, which makes him the most successful SGP rookie ever. The 2020 Speedway Grand Prix season was the 26th season of the Speedway Grand Prix era, and decided the 75th Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, FIM Speedway World Championship. 2023 Speedway Grand Prix
The 2023 Speedway Grand Prix season was the 29th season of the Speedway Grand Prix era, and decided the 78th FIM Speedway World Championship. It was the second series promoted by Discovery Sports Events. Bartosz Zmarzlik was the defending champion, having won the 2022 title. Zmarzlik successfully retained the title, winning a fourth championship, despite being disqualified from round nine in Denmark. He beat Fredrik Lindgren by eight points, with Martin Vaculík securing the bronze medal. During the championships, Zmarzlik secured four Grand Prix wins after the Latvian Grand Prix, which equalled the 22 career Grand Prix wins of fellow Pole Tomasz Gollob. 2023 Speedway Grand Prix Qualification
The 2023 Individual Speedway World Championship Grand Prix Qualification or GP Challenge (held in 2022) was a series of motorcycle speedway meetings used to determine the three riders that qualified for the 2023 Speedway Grand Prix. The series consisted of four qualifying rounds at Abensberg, Debrecen, Žarnovica and Nagyhalász and the Grand Prix Challenge at Glasgow. Preliminary national qualification events included the 2021 American Final, the Polish Golden Helmet and the DMU qualifier. The three riders that qualified for the 2023 series were Kim Nilsson, Jack Holder and Max Fricke. Dan Bewley finished second in the Grand Prix Challenge, but he already qualified due to making the top six in the 2022 Speedway Grand Prix series. Speedway World Championship
The World Championship of Speedway is an international competition between the highest-ranked motorcycle speedway riders of the world, run under the auspices of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM). The first official championships were held in 1936. Today, this official FIM championship is organised as a series of Speedway Grand Prix events, where points are awarded according to performance in the event and tallied up at the end of each season. However, up to 1994, it was run as a single-night event after qualifying rounds during the season, leading up to a big final of 20 heats, where points were awarded according to riders' heat placings and then tallied up at the end. Bartosz Zmarzlik
Bartosz Zmarzlik (; born 12 April 1995) is a Polish motorcycle speedway rider and three-time World Champion (2019, 2020 and 2022). He has been decorated with the Order of Polonia Restituta, V class. Biography Born in Szczecin, Poland, Zmarzlik is the younger brother of former speedway rider Paweł Zmarzlik. Bartosz first came to the attention of the British speedway public when he was granted a wild card to race in the 2012 Speedway Grand Prix of Poland on 23 June. It was his first appearance in the Grand Prix series. He performed exceptionally well and became the youngest rider to ever appear on the podium in a Speedway Grand Prix, aged just 17 years and 72 days.
