Benjamin Basso (born 2 July 2001) is a speedway rider from Denmark. Speedway career Basso, who was a World Youth champion was signed by Poole Pirates during the SGB Championship 2021 season as a replacement for Ondřej Smetana, who had failed to join the team due to travel issues. The move contributed to a highly successful season for the Pirates as they won the league and Knockout Cup double. In 2022, he rode for the Peterborough Panthers in the SGB Premiership 2022 and for the Glasgow Tigers in the SGB Championship 2022. The move from Poole to Peterborough upset the Poole managers Matt and Dan Ford because they said that they had assisted Basso with his work permit and arranged a contract around Basso's Danish racing commitments. The Speedway Under-21 World Championship is an annual speedway event held each year organized by the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) since 1977. As of 2022, the title was awarded to the winner of the SGP2 category at the FIM Speedway World Championship. The 2023 SGB Cab Direct Championship season will be the 76th season of the second tier of British Speedway and the 6th known as the SGB Championship. The British Speedway Network (BSN) would stream 35 matches live for the second year running. Summary Nine clubs will compete in the Championship in 2023, with Edinburgh Monarchs remaining in the league despite problems surrounding their home venue. The only change to the league is Leicester Lions, who left for the higher league of the SGB Premiership 2023. The league format will be the same as in 2022, with each team racing against each other twice (home and away), meaning a total of 16 fixtures each during the season. The points system has been revamped and simplified, with teams scoring two points for a win (home or away), with a bonus point scored for an aggregate win. The 2023 Sports Insure SGB Premiership is the 88th season of the top tier of British speedway and the 6th known as the SGB Premiership. There was an increase of one team after the Leicester Lions opted to move up from the SGB Championship. 2023 summary Seven clubs will compete for the league championship, with Leicester Lions joining the from the division below. The 2022 SGP2 series was the 46th edition of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, FIM Individual Speedway Junior World Championship, Individual Under-21 World Championship. It was staged as the SGP2 class of the FIM Speedway Grand Prix series after rights holders Discovery Channel, Discovery Sports Events took over promotional rights of the competition prior to the start of the season. The series was staged over three rounds at Prague, Cardiff and Torun. Poland's Mateusz Cierniak won the title, winning two of the three rounds in the process. SGB Championship 2022
The 2022 SGB Championship season is the 75th season of the second tier of British Speedway and the 5th known as the SGB Championship. Summary Eleven clubs competed in the Championship in 2022, with Oxford returning to the sport after a 15 year absence. The Eastbourne Eagles and the Kent Kings did not compete in the 2022 edition, with the Kings riding in the National Development League as The Royals, and Eastbourne not riding at all. Alongside the league and Knockout Cup, a new Summer competition was added in form of a group stage before a three team final at Sheffield. The tournament was called 'The Championship Jubilee League' which was eventually suspended until the 2023 season. However the additional fixtures created an issue due to the suspension of fixtures during the Death and state funeral of Elizabeth II and the heavy rain during October.
