Sun Yat Sen Park, Macau
Sun Yat Sen Park (; pt, Jardim Municipal Dr. Sun Yat Sen) is an urban park in Nossa Senhora de Fátima, Macau, China. The park is named for the founding father of the Republic of China, Dr Sun Yat Sen. The park is a 70,000 square meters (17.3 acres) urban park located in northern Macau in Our Lady of Fatima Parish along the border with Zhuhai, Mainland China. The park is located next to Canal dos Patos, but access to the former canal is closed off, and Barrier Gate. It was originally called Canal Dos Patos Park to commemorate the friendship between China and Portugal in 1987. The park is one of forty three parks in the world to bear this name. Nossa Senhora De Fátima, Macau
Nossa Senhora de Fátima is the northernmost and largest civil parish in the Macau Peninsula of Macau. It has an area of and a population of 126,000, which constitutes about 40.3% of the peninsula's land mass and one-third of the population. This parish was one of five in the former Municipality of Macau, one of Macau's two municipalities that were abolished on 31 December 2001 by Law No. 17/2001, following the 1999 transfer of sovereignty over Macau from Portugal to China. While their administrative functions have since been removed, these parishes are still retained nominally. It is northeast of the parishes of Santo António and São Lázaro. It borders the Chinese city of Zhuhai to the north. Description The parish consists mostly of land reclaimed from the sea. Natural land comprises only a quarter of its current size. Portas Do Cerco
The Portas do Cerco is an area in Nossa Senhora de Fátima, Macau, China. Located on the northern tip of the Macau Peninsula, it is known by the Barrier Gate separating Macau from mainland China. The Portuguese built the gate in 1849 to replace a crumbling wall that the Chinese erected during the Ming dynasty in 1573. The Chinese built a garrisoned wall to control the flow of people and goods. It was the site of the Passaleão incident, a clash between the Qing dynasty and the Kingdom of Portugal in 1849 over the death of Macau's governor Ferreira do Amaral. Led by Colonel Mesquita, Portugal won the small battle which led to the extension of Macau's border northwards. At the limit of said expansion, the Portas do Cerco was built with the inscription "A pátria honrai, que a pátria vos contempla" (Portuguese for "Honor your fatherland, for your fatherland looks over you") on the façade on its inner arch in 1849. Chinese Peruvian
Chinese Peruvians, also known as ''tusán'' (a loanword from ), are Peruvian citizens whose ancestors came from China. They are people of overseas Chinese ancestry born in Peru or who have made Peru their adopted homeland. 14,307 Peruvians claim Chinese descent. Due to acculturation, most Chinese Peruvians do not speak the language of their Asian ancestors. Canal Dos Patos (Macau)
{{unreferenced, date=October 2013 Canal dos Patos is a short and former canal separating Zhuhai and Macau. The canal begins at the Barrier Gate and flows westwards out into the Inner Harbour. The canal was created when Inner Harbour in the north west end of Macau Peninsula was filled in. From the Inner Harbour to CEM Canal do Patos Power Substation (located just west of Sun Yat Sen Park, Macau) the canal is still visible. This section of the canal is lined with mainly with residential buildings on the south side of street. There is no access to the waterway and fencing is found along the canal from the bridge at Cross Border Industrial Zone (restricted access for commercial vehicles to and from Macau to China) to Barrier Gate. Zhuhai (, ; Yale: ''Jyūhói''), also known as Chuhai is a prefecture-level city located on the west bank of Pearl River estuary on the central coast of southern Guangdong province, People's Republic of China, on the southeastern edge of Pearl River Delta. Its name literally means "pearl sea", which originates from the city's location at the mouth of the Pearl River meeting the South China Sea.
