Stoltenberg Norwegian Family
Stoltenberg is a Norwegian family known for its politicians, including two previous government ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs Thorvald Stoltenberg and Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg, the latter of whom currently serves as Secretary General of NATO. Various branches of the family have long political traditions. The family may be traced back to Henrich Mogenssen Stoltenberg (fl. around 1590), who was a churchwarden in Tønsberg. Henrich Mogenssen was the great-grandfather of Vincent Stoltenberg (1694-1763) and Jens Stoltenberg (1676-1725), a merchant and a priest, respectively. The name Stoltenberg derives from the village Stoltenberg in present-day Germany. Eidsvoll Riksraad 1814
Eidsvoll (; sometimes written as ''Eidsvold'') is a municipality in Akershus in Viken county, Norway. It is part of the Romerike traditional region. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Sundet. General information Etymology The first element is the genitive case of the word ''eid'' (Old Norse: ''eið'') and the last element is ''voll'' (Old Norse: ''vǫllr'') which means "meadow" or " field". The meaning of the word ''eid'' in this case is "a road passing around a waterfall". People from the districts around the lake (Mjøsa) who were sailing down the river Vorma, and people from Romerike sailing up the same river, both had to enter this area by passing the Sundfossen waterfall. Holstein
Holstein (; nds, label=Northern Low Saxon, Holsteen; da, Holsten; Latin and historical en, Holsatia, italic=yes) is the region between the rivers Elbe and Eider. It is the southern half of Schleswig-Holstein, the northernmost state of Germany. Robert Stoltenberg
Robert Stoltenberg (born 17 April 1965) is a Norwegian actor and comedian known for his various impressions in different comedy series. He had a great success and skyrocketed into stardom with the television series ''Borettslaget'', being both the creator of the series and playing most of the main characters. Life and career Stoltenberg grew up in Fetsund, and started in the radio-newspaper for youngsters at the age of 17. From there he became NRK P2's morning radio and ''in the middle of traffic''. After that he took his degree in history at the University of Oslo and then left for Lillehammer to take education as a TV director. Nini Stoltenberg
Nini Stoltenberg (11 February 1963 – 27 July 2014) was a Norwegian television personality and sister of Jens Stoltenberg, former prime minister of Norway, and Camilla Stoltenberg, the director-general of the Norwegian Institute of Public Health. She was, however, better known as a drug addict, and has been cited as such by Norwegian media on numerous occasions. She has often been depicted as an unofficial spokesperson for Norwegian drug users. Stoltenberg was part of a 12-member group of expert advisers on drug policies for the second cabinet Bondevik (2001–2005). Stoltenberg presented a harsh critique of Norwegian illegal drug politics and questioned whether the expert group of which she was a member really made any difference. Mathias Stoltenberg
Mathias Stoltenberg (21 July 1799 – 2 November 1871) was a Norwegian painter. He earned his living mostly as a travelling portrait painter and furniture restorer. His paintings were later rediscovered and presented at the 1914 Jubilee Exhibition in Kristiania. Personal life Stoltenberg was born in Tønsberg, the son of merchant and politician Carl Peter Stoltenberg and Karen Mathea Bull. He lost his sense of hearing as a child, and died in poverty in Vang in 1871. Career Stoltenberg studied carpentry in Copenhagen, where he also took lessons in portrait painting with Christian August Lorentzen. Back in Norway he earned his living as a travelling portrait painter and carpenter. After his father died in 1830, the family home in Tønsberg dissolved. Karin Stoltenberg
Karin Stoltenberg (née Heiberg; 23 November 1931 – 17 October 2012) was a Norwegian geneticist, politician and public official noted for her efforts to develop a coherent family policy in Norway, feminist activities, and for being the mother of prime minister Jens Stoltenberg, and wife of foreign minister Thorvald Stoltenberg. Biography Karin Heiberg was born into a Norwegian middle-class family in Paterson, New Jersey (USA), and became politically interested as a socialist in her early teens. She met her husband-to-be when they were 18, but after a short romance she moved to Canada with her family, where she lived for six years and was briefly married. Camilla Stoltenberg (born 5 February 1958) is a Norwegian physician and researcher. Since 13 August 2012, she has been Director-General of the Norwegian Institute of Public Health. She is the sister of former Prime Minister of Norway and General Secretary of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg. Early life and education Stoltenberg attended Oslo Waldorf School and studied sociology and medicine at the University of Oslo, where she graduated with the cand.med. degree. The Norwegian Constituent Assembly (in Norwegian ''Grunnlovsforsamlingen'', also known as ''Riksforsamlingen'') is the name given to the 1814 constitutional assembly at Eidsvoll in Norway, that adopted the Norwegian Constitution and formalised the dissolution of the union with Denmark. In Norway, it is often just referred to as ''Eidsvollsforsamlingen'', which means ''The Assembly of Eidsvoll''. Carl Peter Stoltenberg
Carl Peter Stoltenberg (28 January 1770 – 13 November 1830) was a Norwegian merchant, ship owner and politician. He was a representative at the Norwegian Constituent Assembly in Eidsvoll during 1814. Biography Carl Peter Stoltenberg was born in Våle (now Re) in Vestfold, Norway. His father was a vicar. He belonged to a well established merchandising family. Three of his uncles ran the business in Tønsberg, and then all died without leaving close heirs to assume control. As a consequence, Stoltenberg inherited the family's mercantile business at age twenty. He expanded the business into both wholesale and retail. He also extended his business into shipping. In 1819, he took over the Vallø saltworks, however an economic crisis in 1830 put his estate into bankruptcy. Jens Stoltenberg
Jens Stoltenberg (born 16 March 1959) is a Norwegian politician who has been serving as the 13th secretary general of NATO since 2014. A member of the Norwegian Labour Party, he previously served as the 34th prime minister of Norway from 2000 to 2001, and again from 2005 until 2013. Born in Oslo as the son of the prominent diplomat and politician Thorvald Stoltenberg and Karin Stoltenberg (née Heiberg), Stoltenberg attended Oslo Waldorf School and Oslo Cathedral School before graduating with a degree in economics from the University of Oslo in 1987.
