Steve Cannane
Stephen Paul Cannane (born 1970) is a news journalist and current affairs reporter for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. He is the chief of the ABC's Europe bureau, based in London. Cannane had previously been the ABC's Europe correspondent, a reporter for the ABC's Investigations unit, a host of '' The Drum'' and a reporter at ''Lateline''. Politics Cannane is a grandson of Pat Hills, a former Lord Mayor of Sydney and Deputy Premier of New South Wales. At the age of 22, Cannane was persuaded to run as the Australian Labor Party candidate for Warringah in the 1993 Australian federal election. Despite garnering more than 33% of the vote and providing a favourable swing of more than 5% for the ALP, Cannane lost to Liberal Party stalwart Michael MacKellar who had held the seat since 1969. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) is the national broadcaster of Australia. It is principally funded by direct grants from the Australian Government and is administered by a government-appointed board. ''Nightlife'' is an Australian late-night talkback show across ABC Local Radio hosted by Philip Clark and Suzanne Hill. It offers a mix of both news and current affairs, lifestyle and entertainment. Each night there are regular features and presenters. The listening audience is heavily featured throughout the program. ABC TV Plus (formerly ABC2 and ABC Comedy) is an Australian free-to-air television channel owned by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and part of its ABC Television network. The channel broadcasts a range of general entertainment programming. Between the hours of 5am and 7.30pm daily, the channel's bandwidth is used for the ABC Kids channel for young children. The channel was launched on 7 March 2005 as ABC2. It was rebranded as ABC Comedy on 4 December 2017, with a format focused on comedy programming. Mordechai Vanunu
Mordechai Vanunu ( he, מרדכי ואנונו; born 14 October 1952), also known as John Crossman, is an Israeli former nuclear technician and peace activist who, citing his opposition to weapons of mass destruction, revealed details of Israel's nuclear weapons program to the British press in 1986. He was subsequently lured to Italy by the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad, where he was drugged and abducted. He was secretly transported to Israel and ultimately convicted in a trial that was held behind closed doors. Vanunu spent 18 years in prison, including more than 11 in solitary confinement, though no such restriction is mentioned in Israel's penal code, nor imposed by his verdict. Santo Santoro
Santo Santoro (born 27 April 1956) is a former Australian politician and a former deputy leader of the Liberal Party in Queensland. He was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland from 1989 to 2001; and a member of the Australian Senate from 2002 to 2007, representing the state of Queensland. He resigned from John Howard's ministry and from the Senate in the wake of a number of breaches of the Ministerial Code of Conduct and of the Register of Senators' Interests. Hack (radio Program)
''Hack'' is the title of a current affairs radio program on Australian national radio broadcaster Triple J. The show began at the start of 2004 after a shake up of the station's programming. The previous current affairs program, ''The Morning Show'' from 9 a.m. to midday, was axed and the half-hour ''Hack'' was its replacement, from 5.30 p.m. to 6 p.m. It was hosted by Steve Cannane until mid-2006. At this point, Cannane left Triple J radio to become the current affairs reporter for their jtv program. One of Cannane's stories on ''Hack'', "Petrol Sniffing, Pill Testing and the Cost of War", earned him a Walkley Award. He won the Walkley Award for Broadcast Interviewing in 2006.
