The Walkley Award for Broadcast Interviewing was first presented in 1997, as one of the Walkley Awards. At some point it became the Walkley Award for Broadcast Presenting, until 2001. In 2009 the award category became Walkley Award for Broadcast and Online Interviewing, and in 2013, Walkley Award for Interview. By 2020 the Award had ceased. Walkley Awards
The annual Walkley Awards are presented in Australia to recognise and reward excellence in journalism. They cover all media including print, television, documentary, radio, photographic and online media. The Gold Walkley is the highest prize and is chosen from all category winners. The awards are under the administration of the Walkley Foundation for Journalism. The Nikon Photography Prizes are also awarded by the Walkley Foundation at the awards ceremony, on behalf of Nikon. History The awards were instituted in five categories in 1956 by businessman Sir William Walkley, founder of Ampol. After his death, the awards were handled by the Australian Journalists' Association which, in 1992, was merged into the Media, Entertainment & Arts Alliance. Triple J (stylised in all lowercase) is a government-funded, national Australian Radio in Australia, radio station intended to appeal to listeners of alternative music, which began broadcasting in January 1975. ''Four Corners'' is an Australian investigative journalism/ current affairs documentary television program. Broadcast on ABC TV, it premiered on 19 August 1961 and is the longest-running Australian television program in history. Caro Meldrum-Hanna is an Australian investigative journalist. Meldrum-Hanna is best known for her work with ABC Television's ''Four Corners'' program. Among Meldrum-Hanna's stories on ''Four Corners'', two notable reports are an investigation into the treatment of juveniles at the Don Dale Youth Detention Centre entitled " Australia's Shame" and an investigation into a greyhound racing live baiting scandal entitled "Making a Killing". For "Making a Killing", Meldrum-Hanna was the co-recipient of the 2015 Gold Walkley, shared with producer Sam Clark and researcher Max Murch. David Gordon Speers (born 9 September 1974 in Inverell, Australia) is an Australian journalist and host of '' Insiders'' on ABC TV. Jenny Brockie (born 1954 or 1955) is an Australian journalist and documentary-maker, she has previously hosted the SBS program, ''Insight''.
